Comments Thread For: Spence Optimistic About Crawford Rematch: I Know I'm A Lot Better Than What I Showed

Because Bud wants another big pay day, and Spence isnt going to fight him at 147, and it really wont make any difference.I’m wondering if Spence will activate the rematch. Words spoken in emotion and pride right after the fight might be reconsidered later, with input from his team.
If he does activate, Bud should make it at 147 again if it’s only “a bit hard” for him to make the limit. Why give Spence any advantage at all, however little most people think it will matter? If he insists on 47 that might encourage Spence to move on, which is the better outcome for everyone.
If they do rematch at 154, there are no belts on the line, and TC would have at least a couple of mandatories waiting at 47 right after. As for Spence, that would more than likely be the last time we see him in the ring.
The rematch isnt going to happen anyway. Spence lost cause Bud completely neutralised him. Also, if you look the firt round, Spence fought exactly the same as he always did. Weight cut wasnt the issue.
Bud neutralised him and figured him out, and from there Spence just moves on the center line with no head movement, Bud kicked his ass and would do it againComment

Agreed. Like I said, a rematch at 47 or 54 would likely be the last fight of Spence’s career. I hear your point about the payday. Is the rematch all that much more lucrative than a fight with Ennis? Maybe Lopez moves up to 147 to “chase greatness”.

Anyway, if you don’t think the rematch will happen I guess like me you’re thinking Errol will go in a different direction- towards lesser fighters at 154. But I doubt he’ll ever fight Charlo so his path to a belt might be unsatisfyingComment

This. They move up in weight. Spence makes Bud come inside. Not out of the question that things change. Not likely but look what Fury did in the second and third fight by changing his style.Spence cannot outbox Crawford, his only chance is a chest to chest war, push Crawford to the ropes and get in and work in close range so he can t be countered as easily. That’s his only shot as I see it. At medium range he got slaughtered especially after throwing slow looping crossesComment

Exactly.“I know I’m a lot better than what I showed tonight,” Spence said.
No, he is not.
He made his name fighting smaller guys like Mikey and Danny Garcia, and Lamont Peterson.
He is a Jr Middle campaigning as a welter weight.
His rock em, sock em, act played out, and he was exposed....badly.
He should quit while he is ahead and take his money and retire, and go into the Hall of Fame as the 'B-Side' to Bud Crawford.
Because to fight Terence Crawford again, and get beat down worse will erase all doubt of what and who he is, and that is a weight bully and a fraud.
This guy was a tremendeous weight bully.
And for first time he was fighting vs a Big ****er, great boxer with speed.
This guy is overrated and was in the level of Valdez, Plant, Wood, and those champions not P4P materialComment
