Does Crawford Being From Omaha, Put Him At A Disadvantage?

I was thinking about this the other day. If Crawford had been from another city do you think he would have a different personality and easier to market? For example, Spence is more known and ****y because he grew up in the tough streets of Dallas whereas Crawford grew up in Omaha ( a city not really known for being violent, hell people are surprised when they find out black people are from Nebraska). Dallas has a culture of swag and hip-hop that Omaha lacks so it's no surprise that Crawford has a bland attitude. If Crawford was from Baltimore, New York, Philly, or Chicago, I believe it would/would've been easier to sell him to the urban public.

Boots is fairly quiet during pressers and interviews, too. Yet he's gotten exposure, especially after dispatching Villa.

Crawford's momentum died the moment he got to 147. Why? Asterisk wins.

I guarantee you, if Crawford had sparked Khan's chin instead of a low blow, knocked out Horn like Tszyu did (aka no trigger ref), and broke Benavidez down in 6 rounds or less, he would have had way more momentum and hype.

Crawford is simply not well spoken or charismatic. He’s a great talent, but he has zero star quality. Doesn’t matter what city he’s from.

Crawford is well spoken, both fighters are well spoken.

But? It has nothing much to do with overt actions 'Spence Junior has a under tone in his demeanor, it is difficult to pin-point but it is there. Spence Junior has a flare and style about himself, I compare it to the Blaxploitation movies if the 1970's 'Same kind of aura around Spence Junior'.

Spence Junior is most likely appreciated by a different type of crowd than Tank Davis.

Note: I also don't think Crawford or Spence Junior care that much a about the public 'They are themselves, and if people appreciate them? Then that is great, if not then I don't really think they care that much' etc.

Neither Spence or Crawford are good speakers. Neither of them are charismatic or have any fan appeal outside of their boxing skills. Doesn't matter where they are from. Wilder is from a small city in Alabama, didn't hurt his standing with the urban public as you put it.

Crawfords personality is way way more bland then spence. As far as promoting him he is a horrible investment.

The thing is, none of this would even matter if these guys just fought more often and stayed active.

If you're fighting four times a year your name is going to be in the headlines frequently enough (and for the right reasons) that people won't be able to forget about you. That's how you create buzz. They don't have to like you, they just have to know you exist.

Any time someone fights often they get my attention - personality or no personality - while fighters who spend most of the time arguing on social media do the exact opposite. It's like, wake me up when they are actually fighting. Fight often, fight worthy competition and don't stink the joint out. Do those three things and personality is largely unimportant.
