I know the long arms make a difference but not all tall guys got long arms and it seems like most tall guys can’t fight on the inside.
Why is it hard for taller guys to fight on the inside ?

imagine putting your head on someone's shoulder and throwing punches lmfao. this scenerio does not happen irl. it's a totally made-up scenerio around the rules of boxing.
IRL if another thai clinches you and they know what they are doing, it's over for you.

Yeah obviously long arms are an issue but that's not in the main issue
the main issue is a lot of fighters, especially probably a lot of tall fighters don't actually know how to fight on the inside and maybe taller fighters don't practice it enough because they rely on their reach more or they believe the narrative tall fighters don't make good inside fighters.
Paul Williams could. Tyson Fury is surprisingly good inside for someome with long arms. Floyd was good inside when he had to be, he's not tall but had long arms. Margarito could too and he was quite tall at 147. I know there's lots more, like Corrales, pretty tall for the weight classes but could fight inside l.
But i use these names because all these fighters shared one thing in common, They understand framing and making room with their forearms to create a little bit of room to get shots in. I think it's a skill a lot of fighters don't have.
So you can definitely fight inside as well as anybody, even with long arms, especially if you understand and spent years practicing how to create space in the pocket. But without that ability then it does because pretty difficult for a tall fighter.Last edited by deathofaclown; 07-26-2023, 05:05 PM.Comment
