Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor: Catterall Fight Will Be Revisited, I Want it Again To Shut Most People Up

Former undisputed junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor is mulling the next move for his career after suffering his first defeat as a pro. Last month, Taylor returned to the ring for the first time since February of 2022 - and he was outboxed over twelve rounds by Teofimo Lopez, who walked away with the WBO world title.

Something tells me Josh doesn’t have to goods to be world level at 147. 140 he could test a few title holders as I see the Regis fight could build some steam. That loss to Teo kinda made him a non factor but I wish him the best.

“I’ll go down this week to Liverpool, get all my tests done, and go over what went well and what went wrong in the Lopez fight. There were a lot of factors in that camp, things that didn’t go my way. I went into the fight when I maybe shouldn’t have. I should have delayed it four or five weeks."
        Sounds like excuses.

Yeah no chance he's picking up a title at 147 whilst Boots, Virgil, Spence, Crawford are swimming in those waters. Let alone the other contenders in that division

I don't know if there's many if any he could currently beat clean in the top 10. Maybe old man, injury prone Thurman if he's still ranked that high?

You have to say that his issue is mental. You might say he’s not the most skilled fighter to come along but in watching the Prograis fight, you can’t say he’s untalented. But in the Catteral fight, and now the Lopez fight, you could almost see the tunnel-vision in his eyes. He lacked poise, appeared panicked, made bad choices, and abandoned tactics and strategy. It’s like fear has gotten into him in a way that he can’t get out. Too bad because he used to be fun and inspiring to watch.

I'm not even sure he could wrangle wins over 2nd level Welterweights, let alone the elite.

Josh Taylor just needs to stay away from the media and focus on his training. Also make the rematch in a neutral venue so the pressure of producing kumbaya moments is minimized in the home court environment.
