Yikes. Be careful what you wish for. That beat down he gave Scooter looked like it could have gone on all night.

Not that it would have changed the outcome but refree should have deducted a point from Inoue

Inoue wants to be undisputed and Tapales needs to cash out before he gets knocked out by a lesser opponent. Lets get it done.

Tapales is exceptional. His style will match up better than Fulton's against Inoue.

And his head will slim down with the weight cut.

He was supposed to defend his WBO bantamweight against the younger Inoue in 2016, but Takuma had to pull out with a fractured hand. Now he's getting the big bro... He looked very sharp against Akhmadaliev, who can crack. But I can't say I was expecting that level of domination from Inoue.
Well, who wouldn't want at least $3m paycheck ? Especially if he probably never ever reached $100k-$200k for a fight in many years of fighting.

I wouldn't discount Tapales on upsetting Naoya, he can crack, and a single punch can change the narrative of a fight. Naoya might be too overconfident now, and he might make the same mistake he did against Donaire in their 1st fight. It would be a great New Year's present for us betting men, we can hedge bet on both fighters and win either way, as I think Tapales will be a very heavy underdog after what Naoya did to Fulton.

On another note, expected to be on the undercard is Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue for the WBA bantam championship, where Jerwin is being predicted as the winner, as Takuma is no Naoya. If Tapales loses, Jerwin can challenge Naoya at 122 and play on him to avenge his brother. That would be a great payday for him too.

                Marlon Tapales has big balls.
Respect to him calling Inoue out.
Should be another good fight. Tapales has good power, should be interesting.

Hope he negotiates as good a pay day as he can to prepare for his inevitable fall into obscurity.

Never saw the man fight, but as far as fighting Monster to prove to himself that he's champion, well, let's just say it's probably not a good plan. I don't think he's got a choice though. Monster is coming for his belt. He should probably bring back-up suspenders to hold his pants up on the way home from the fight. Inoue is cleaning up. Tank and Shakur better start sweating. They've already been proclaimed great, and they have looked fine against the people they've fought so far, but...levels, there are a lot of them and Naoya is the only one on his.
