  • Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson On Kambosos-Hughes: I Thought It Was A Robbery; Maxi Was A Better Fighter

Shakur Stevenson saw something entirely different from his ringside seat than the three judges witnessed Saturday night in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The undefeated two-division champion contended afterward that British southpaw Maxi Hughes definitely deserved a

All the "Hughes just ran" people apparently don't understand the sport. I can't stand a runner. Hughes was counterpunching and landing good shots all night, he wobbled Kambosos and cut him with a punch. Kambosos had a few decent rounds, but he was whiffing all night and getting caught with clean counterpunches.

Fight are scored on effective aggression, better shots landed and ring generalship. Each round is scored seperately. Just coming forward and getting hit in the body and face cleanly does not mean you win the round on "aggression". It is EFFECTIVE aggression. Hughes win this fight by a large margin. The judges were obviously told that Kambosos will win.

Hughes controlled the fight and hurt Kambosos to the body many times. Kambosos had this lost look in his face after the second round. He came out with the tough guy look in the first round like he was some type of puncher but that quickly changed.

Shakur is on point with his assessment. Hughes was very crafty in there, he moved and walked Kambosos into his punches all night. I had it 8-4 in favor of Maxi.

Heading into this fight, I thought Maxi would give a good account of himself and may even pull off the upset. A friend asked me if I was going to put money on it and I responded that I was afraid even if Hughes did enough to win, he'd likely get robbed. It's a shame that we fans have come to expect this in the sport.

It was funny to watch Shakur tell Kambosos that if they had fight that he would stop him. He is a real tough guy behind that smile.

Kambosos is like this generations Carlos Baldomir. He's going to make the most with his limited talent all off 1 single win (Lopez). I never thought he was great, even dropping Lopez, he himself got rocked bad and could have been taken out late in the fight against Lopez. He survived and that showed heart, though heart is what it is. He can have a big heart and mostly **** talent and that is what I see here.

I can't wait until he's finally taken out in a clean fashion so we really don't need to hear anymore of him. He's probably the weakest of all in that division.
