Comments Thread For: Thurman on Fighting Spence: He Wasn't Worth a Lot [In the Past]; Now the Fight Is Bigger, Better, Greater

Keith Thurman wholeheartedly believes a fight with unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. in the past would have been a costly mistake.

He wasn’t worth much in the past and neither were you. This is the same guy who’s still crying to this day about Floyd not giving him an opportunity, while in the same breath admitted he did the exact same thing to Spence. Make it make sense.

Thurman needs to tell Thurman that referring to yourself in third person....especially as a washed up has been....only makes Thurman sound idiotic and cringe as hell.

Keith needs to fight Stanionis or Boots to earn another Title shot,, Thurman wants a payday without earning it.

Thurman didn't want to fight Spence in the past because he knew that Spence would beat him up and possibly get a highlight reel KO on him. Spence knew that he would beat Thurman. Thurman also knew deep down that Spence would beat him as well. Thurman saying that the fight would have to be built up to generate money is a lot of crap. Thurman has to realize that someone gave him a chance to become champion. Challengers work their way up the ranks to one day fight champions in boxing. By then Spence was highly ranked and earned his title shot at the time. He travelled to England to fight Kell Brook to win his first title. At least Kell Brook had the heart and guts to fight Spence win or lose in that title fight. Thurman is just feeding everyone a line of bull with his crap for not fighting Spence. Now Thurman is on the outside looking in which is what he deserves for not being an active fighter and whining all the time.

Hate all you want but Thurman was putting up huge ratings and sold pretty well on PPV with a washed up Pacquiao. His persona was more marketable than guys like Bud and Spence just lacked their hunger and drive.
