Carl Froch: ' I'm going for a Mayweather Jr defense style '

Nottingham’s WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch admitted he has been working on his defence for the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament after suffering the first knockdown of his career against Jermain Taylor in his last outing in the ring.

Froch, who faces undefeated American Andre Dirrell in his first match of the competition, maintained that he has been working on a Floyd Mayweather Jr style defence, which he feels can help him overcome the “unknown quantity” of the tournament.

Froch has nowhere near the athletic abilities as FMJ, and therefore this is not possible.

Good luck with that Froch. Takes alot of hard work to learn the shoulder roll. It isn't so much doing it but countering off of it, I've tried and failed numerous of times.

Froch has nowhere near the athletic abilities as FMJ, and therefore this is not possible.

Many European fighters are flat footed and lack that athleticism.What most do is try and trade punches or move away like some slow trucks.

If Froch can improve his defence and still be able to be aggressive then he can be dangerous

Could be interesting, as long as it improves his defence even a tiny bit, it will help, i mean he will win this fight even before adopting this new style, so afterwards it'll be even easier.

Froch has power but only because he's so flat footed. It shows when he's facing a moving target. He aint gonna be able to move like Floyd even if he was paid 1 billion to do so.
