The fighters don't make fights, especially fights that are cross promotion fights! Arum and Hearn don't work together, and neither do Oscar and Hearn, so Cruz is going to have a tough time on DAZN! If he wanted those ESPN Lightweights, he should've signed with Top Rank!

Hearn was probably the first promoter that approached Cruz, and Andy jumped all over the contract offered. From this poor young Cuban’s perspective, he hit the lottery. And that’s not far from the truth.

We don’t know what path Cruz took to get here, or what contacts he had prior to arriving in the US. It’s quite possible he never spoke to anyone of those guys you mentioned. There’s no telling. Good news is, Hearn appears to believe in Andy. Any doubters can now see why.

I'm happy, that he's happy! However, getting to a title shot @ 135 is going to be difficult at MatchRoom, unless DAZN starts putting pressure on GBP! If he were at 140, that might have been a much easier path!

That’s really too bad. It’s the state of modern boxing. One can only hope Cruz gets the fights he deserves.
