Let’s be honest, none of the Top Rank or PBC guys at 135 lbs will want any part of Andy Cruz. Especially Keyshawn Davis.

I hope Cruz quickly becomes the mando for one of the belts.

That's the dilemma! How does he get there "quickly" if he can't get the top guys? Let's be honest, if Andy Cruz wanted those guys, wouldn't he have signed there? Maybe that makes too much sense?

Cruz is a Cuban defector. It’s almost certain that he didn’t know jack about how all this works going in. Hearn was probably the first promoter that approached Cruz, and Andy jumped all over the contract offered. From this poor young Cuban’s perspective, he hit the lottery. And that’s not far from the truth.

Lomachenko got there fast. Cruz has a similar amateur pedigree.

Lomachenko is with Bob Arum, not Eddie Hearn!

I understand, when you see the offer, you feel like you have to take it! However, between King Kong Ortiz, Erislandy Lara, Frank Sanchez, David Morrell Jr., Yoelvis Gomez, and Rigo, someone should have told him "how all this works!"

We don’t know what path Cruz took to get here, or what contacts he had prior to arriving in the US. It’s quite possible he never spoke to anyone of those guys you mentioned. There’s no telling. Good news is, Hearn appears to believe in Andy. Any doubters can now see why.

I'm happy, that he's happy! However, getting to a title shot @ 135 is going to be difficult at MatchRoom, unless DAZN starts putting pressure on GBP! If he were at 140, that might have been a much easier path!

That’s really too bad. It’s the state of modern boxing. One can only hope Cruz gets the fights he deserves.
