Jeff Lacy Calzaghe
What are your predictions about who will win this fight. Jeff Lacy to me reminds me of Tyson a little bit. Just he is slower, has worse defence, and less explosioness, however he does have better stamina. I think to beat Lacy you need to utilize the same strategy that you need to beat Tyson. You cannot let him bully you around the ring and pound you all over the top of the head and to the body. You need to possess the ability to land strong quick straight punches and cannot allow yourself to be intimidated. YOu have to be able to weather Lacy's agression, and then take it to him. If Cazaghe possess powerfull quck straight punches and does not allow himself to be intimidated at any point by Lacy I think he will win. The fact the fight is taking place Britain gives Cazaghe the edge in this fight. If Lacy does not improve his defence and Cazaghe can land strong straight quick punches, Lacy will lose. But every Lacy fight will always be entertaining because he fights in a Tysonesque style. So I enjoy watching every Lacy fight, always alot of action.

One thing that does not get enough credit, is the fact that Lacy can take a punch. He has an excellent chin and combined with his power, he would make a formidable opponent for Calzaghe. Joe would have to somehow knock Lacy out early in the fight, or win by stoppage if he wants to win. There is no way IMO that he would survive the entire bout against Lacy.
Lacy stopped Vanderpool, which is not that easy. Knowing that, I do not see how Calzaghe would be awarded a decision. He would have to simply fight fire with fire in the early rounds.
An nobody can say Calzaghe cant punch. Because that is nonsense.

There is no question that Lacy can really ****, However we have really yet to see him demonstrate one punch knockout power. What makes Lacy a great fighter in my opinion is his superior Stamina. I will say it again, to beat Lacy you need to take what he has for several rounds and the man has to tire eventually. Then in the latter rounds you have to become the agressor. That is how you beat Lacy. You also need to possess quick straight accurate power punching abiliity, and overall physical strongess.Comment

He would need to. Because one could also make the case that Lacy's style is taylor made for Calzaghe being the hard hitting southpaw. Lacy's stamina is very impressive, and would definitely be another factor if the fight were to go the distance. I just do not see Calzaghe surviving though. Lacy hits way too hard. With that being said though, it might make for a very entertaining but brief fight. I personally do not like Calzaghe, but I have to admit he is a decent fighter.

I say Calzaghe by decision. Calzaghe has all the tools to beat Lacy who has problems with people who jab which Calzaghe uses most of the time. Lacy would be outboxed right now at this stage.Comment

I think Lacy would stop Calzaghe! I definitely think Calzaghe is well past his peak, he should have had a defining fight back then. Getting knocked down by the eygptian who isn't even rated is a sign of worst things to come. Calzaghe is only topping the division with his undefeated record. I'd favour Beyer, Green, and Mundine all to beat Calzaghe today, 2 years ago perhaps not.Comment

RunWKnives really stuck his neck on the line with all the prefight build up threads. It's funny how all the people who claim Lacy to be overrated now are the same ones who said "Lacy KO 5 Calzaghe".Comment

Not all saying Lacy is over rated said he would beat Cal ,,, Lacy was over rated fact , Shieka sounded the warning and Cal proved it ,,,,, by the same token lots of people dont want to admit Lacy was over hyped because they feel it takes the shine of Cals win , hindsight is 20/20 vision real and thats all that matters , you are what you are and Lacy was proved to be over hyped even Manfredo recently showed us that .Comment
