  • Comments Thread For: Jaron Ennis Suggest The Future is Here: Weekend Afterthoughts

On July 29th, a fight some five years in the making will clear up the question of just who has been the best welterweight in the world in the post-Floyd Mayweather era. The fighter who will replace the winner of Errol Spence-Terence Crawford atop the welterweight division may have spoken violently on Saturday night.

It's a shame i don't think he will get the opportunity to fight Spence or Crawford, which will make his potential rein at 47 impotent, 154 is calling. If Spence and Crawford were white, he would have fought them already?

      Huh?

What does being white have to do with it?

So if Crawford and Spence were white they wouldn’t be unifying with each other next plus have a rematch clause? One of them would be fighting Boots?

Good article. I've been watching 'Boots' for quite some time and the progression is real. Before, he would be the first fight on the cards, but now, he's bumped himself up to the main liner. That was a great fight. And it definitely will help propel Ennis to the next level. However, I still don't think that's he fully prepared to see Spence or Bud. He can squeeze out one more fight in 2023, and then start planning for 2024.

Ennis vs. Villa was a great fight. I'm surprised Villa held up to the 10th. And he was still fighting to win all the way until the end. He took some shots, but also gave some good licks. Nothing but love and respect that night. Villa lives to fight another day, and can negotiate being the A-side. While Ennis improves and continues to elevate.

147 lbs division is stacked, plenty of action to go around.

Boxing is one of life's gems that is rich, raw and pure.

147 is dead without Spence, Crawford, and Vergil Ortiz Jr.! I think Boots should fight Stanionis, and then go to 154, where we know at least Spence and Vergil will already be there! Maybe the Thurman vs. Ugas winner, but that's not going to sell like Spence, Crawford, or Vergil Ortiz Jr.!

The point is Ennis team and father have been far to respectful to Crawford and Spence team, they all know each other, I can't think of any fighter as talented as boots who's career is already irrelevant at 147

It's not illegal when the other fighter is in an illegal position to avoid a punch. Dont duck below the waiste, plus, I haven't heard any organizations call them behind the ear. Vs Dulorme it looked close but against the others, it looks perfect to me.
