Comments Thread For: Joshua: I Got Whyte In Front Of Me; Wilder [Fight] Would Be Amazing But I'm Not Waiting Around

The fight looming ahead is not even on Anthony Joshua's radar, no matter how often it's been brought to his attention. Any talk of a titanic showdown with Deontay Wilder--whether later this year or early 2024--is irrelevant to the former two-time unified heavyweight titlist. The thought of such a fight was motivating enough for Joshua to get back in the ring as early as possible, though it's Dillian Whyte who currently commands his undivided attention.

This guy doesn’t want to be a knockout victim to either one of those guys and he’s going to need a dollar for every star in the sky to get in the ring with them

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm envisioning AJ following the same mental health route of Frank Bruno.

things have changed, once hearn was using stumble bum as a wall to get over for wilder to fight AJ, now joshua has to get over that wall himself to get wilder, except this wall was specially chosen for the job too

The Wilder-Joshua fight is set for December in Saudi Arabia. He was just saying he wanted to keep himself busy and not be inactive between now and fighting Wilder in December. Wilder is trying to set up a fight for himself too before December, although the Andy Ruiz talks have fallen apart.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Had he said, "Wilder is next", the criticism would be that he's looking past Whyte and should focus on the fight at hand. When Hearn talks about the Wilder fight being close to being lined up, people say why discuss it when it's not finalised?

I think the Whyte fight is underwhelming, but Joshua is right that he can only talk about reality and he is right to focus on his next opponent.

So Wilder doesn't have enough balls to take any interim fight for fear he might lose.
Does this make sense if you're a fan?

Man I'd love to see AJ get his head together and beat Whyte and Wilder.
