Kermit Cintron and Carlos 'El Indio' Quintana are willing to do it. But more important than the availability.
"There must be millions," said Cintron, Quintana reinforced while saying "the bigger the check, the better".
The two former world champions were presented yesterday at a press conference that the cartel will star on October 24 at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente.
Cintron will be stellar tonight against Brazilian Juliano Ramos (15-2, 12 KOs), while Quintana is semiestelarista against Jesse Feliciano (15-7-3, 9 KO).
Although both said they remain opposed routes after 24 October, it said they would fight bravely.
"Lately there handsome fighters," Quintana said, referring to fighters who shun heavy fighting.
"And that's it. We are not looking for a fight, but would not dismiss it, "Quintana said the support of Cintron.
The possibility of the fight is facilitated by the proximity of the weight they are both boxers. Quintana is campaigning at 154 pounds and Cintron at 147.
Quintana coach said the fight would be good in an intermediate weight.
"As in 150 pounds would be fine," coach Jose Bonilla.
Meanwhile, the coach chose the 147-pound Cintron.
"Quintana has been welterweight. I think it would be the weight, which really makes no difference, "said Cintron's trainer, Ronnie Shield.
An obvious attraction of the fight is that both are Puerto Ricans, although from different backgrounds. Cintron was raised in America. Quintana lives in Moca.
This factor, coupled with a fight scene in Puerto Rico, success is unprecedented, as Gómez-Laporte.
"That fight in Puerto Rico is very interesting," said Bonilla. "It would be rather attractive fight that would fill the Roberto Clemente Coliseum."
Meanwhile, a test of the attractiveness of both boxers to the fans of Puerto Rico will occur on October 24 at the Clemente, where he held eight bouts.
Among the fighters who completed the lineup of 24 was announced yesterday the undefeated Joel Torres (11-0, 7 KOs) and Jose 'Chelo' Gonzalez (7-0, 4KO).
The card will be presented by the American promoter Lou DiBella, who will make his debut in Puerto Rico, and the company's Puerto Rico Best Boxing.
It will be a rare foreign promotion in the recent history of boxing in Puerto Rico.
Top Rank has not done here a fight since 2007. Don King does not work here since 2002 and Oscar de la Hoya has not returned after debuting in 2005.
"Puerto Rico is a great place. We hope to do a series here, "said Ricardo Figueroa, representative of DiBella.
