Why was Kell Brook attacked for fighting Golovkin and was never given any props?

Charlo is getting big money and he wants to provide for his family, it's understandable. But just from a boxing fan perspective it's a bad thing. Instead of a competitive fight in Charlo-Tszyu we get a guy having to move up 14lbs to face Canelo where he doesn't have much chance.

Generally guys who go up 2 divisions for a big fight don't have a good career afterwards. Khan, Brook, Mikey, Rigo didn't achieve much after going up, losing, then moving back down.
Charlo's and Brook's cases are apples and oranges.
Here Charlo got a fight waiting for him. Kell Brook didn't and he's desperate for fights in his division at that time.

It almost seemed like it's an escape for Charlo, and fortunately for him he was given a path for the escape.

It was great for him financially, I remember it being around 5 million euro. He was also competitive while it lasted. In a way, I felt like Brook exposed GGG a bit.

Before Brook the most competitive fights I saw GGG in was vs Ian Gardner, Kassim Ouma, and Martin Murray.

But yes, Brook had better matchups at 147. Matchups we actually wanted him in. I mean the prediction for the GGG fight was GGG by KO, no one really wanted to see such an easy win for GGG. As that has all we had been seeing already.

Brook was ****** for shadowing Khan (who was going to fight Canelo) by taking a fight he shouldn't have. The GGG fight pretty much ended Brooks career as a top fighter.

Incorrect. Brook's team was pressing for ANY top level fights in his division. Spence said no I have to fight Bundu first.
                You can check doe.

I think part of it is sometimes people project their own feelings onto fighters. For example most people thought Brook had no chance to win so they assume Brook also believes he has no chance and is therefore "cashing out". I think sometimes people underestimate the confidence and downright delusion some fighters have, especially undefeated fighters.

In other words, Hearn and Brook were desperate for fights, but not a single one from the PBC camp was interested.
Thurman in particular was gaining momentum and was the real target, but anyone could have gotten it
                    but they're not interested.

And at that time Hearn was severely criticized for lining up bums for Brook after securing a belt held by Porter.
The last bum Brook fought was a Canadian, I don't remember his name, and fans have had enough.

Hearn and Brook wanted PBC guys but were turned down, and it so happened that GGG's negotiations with Eubank went sour.
The rest is boxing history and is general knowledge.
Hearn was targeting Khan when Brook gained a belt held by Porter. Eddie then gave Brook unlimited number of fights that were tailor-made for Kell. But Khan was not budging, he showed zero interest in the fight till fans, UK fans in particular, have had enough of the quality of fights he's taking. Thinking that Khan will never fight Brook, Eddie Hearn started calling out PBC fighters, and you're right, no one was interested.

I don’t remember people not giving Brook props.
It was more GGG taking this fight pulling up Brook from Welterweight after him and his groupies talked smack about the Canelo/Khan fight.
Brook had a hell of a start but was never going to be able to handle the pressure of a legit 160 champion for more than a few rounds.
Maybe people thought it was dumb for Brook to go up knowing he had little chance of winning.
