Max got boxing commentary the same way he got a record deal as a rapper: his rich dad paid for him to produce his own boxing show on New York public access TV, and then used his dad's connections to get the job at ESPN.

I don't want to hear some Columbia-grad rich kid who bought his was to success' opinion on jack ****.

Kellerman is not nearly as bad as joe tessitore, a guy that should be fired for his bias commentary and favouritism.

He was one of the only commentators on ESPN who really knew boxing and boxing history.

Its bad for the sport to lose someone like that on a major sports network.

I used to like Max. He's been annoying me lately though.

Lampley was by far the worst in boxing. Pac would swing wildly and miss and get hit with a 1-2 counter to the body and old Lampley would yell HUGE RIGHT HAND BY PACQUIAO. It was a joke

So many pathetic haters here. Max was one of the very few guys with a platform who would keep boxing news circulating in the mainstream.

I remember when Max had a public access boxing show in NYC, back in the late 80s/early90s (don’t remember which). I was very impressed with his knowledge. I enjoyed Kellerman’s commentary over the years, but, frankly, he started to wear on me. Even so, Max is still one of the best boxing commentators in the business. The sport is generally woeful in that regard.
