    ‘Pacquiao won’t stand a chance’

    By Edri K. Aznar

BECAUSE he believes that his son is the best fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather Sr. has issued another warning to Manny Pacquiao, and that is to duck a possible fight with Floyd Jr.

“Pacquiao can forget about it now. He don’t want none of Lil Floyd,” said Floyd Sr. in a report posted at FightHype.com.

Floyd Sr. believes that the superior boxing skills of Floyd Jr. was the sole reason of his lopsided 12-round unanimous decision over lightweight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez last Sept. 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Floyd Sr. believes that his son’s skills are way greater than Pacquiao’s as his son had an easy fight with Marquez while the Filipino boxing icon had a difficult time in both fights.

“Everyone wants to talk about the weight. Weight has nothing to do with that. It was all about skill set. People are upset that Pacquiao was in a life and death fight with Marquez twice, while Lil Floyd toyed with him,” Floyd Sr. said.

Floyd Jr. and Marquez fought at a catch weight of 144 pounds.

However, Mayweather, the former pound-for-pound No.1 was overweight by two pounds at the weigh-in.

“Pacquiao had the man down three times in one round and hurt bad and couldn’t finish him. Not only could he not finish him, he got his ears boxed off after that, so what do you think my son would do to him?”

Pacquiao drew with Marquez in a controversial fight in 2004, while he edged out Marquez by just a hairline in their second fight.

The 30-year-old pound-for-pound king is currently training in Baguio City, along with Freddie Roach, for his upcoming super fight with Puerto Rican world champion Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14.

Pacquiao will be vying for Cotto’s World Boxing Organization welterweight belt and the new World Boxing Council Diamond belt.
