So great was the desire to fight Kermit Cintron for the first time in front of his people in Puerto Rico who recently declined to fight with Joshua Clottey provided to make your dream a reality.
Cintron, who faces Oct. 24 Brazilian Juliano Ramos in the main event of the Billboard "Broadway Boxing Series" at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, had an offer to face Clottey on HBO on December 5 in the event of a brawl semiestelar Kelly Pavlik-American Paul Williams but accept that fight would have avoided that could occur in Puerto Rico.
"One of the conditions they placed was that I could not fight on this card in Puerto Rico, but I wanted to fight here. This is something I always dreamed and for which I had differences with other companies promoters who ran my race, "said Cintron, a native of Carolina.
"So when I signed with Lou DiBella Promotions, one of my requirements was to fight in Puerto Rico. Now that it finally got, I would not waste the opportunity. "
Cintron (31-2, 27 KOs) comes to defeat by a decision to Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo. It is ranked number one in the junior middleweight by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and second by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Council (WBC).
"I gave a beating to 'La Perra' and I showed that in addition of being a Power Puncher I also can box. Now I am preparing for this fight. I've been training five weeks and I look forward to another great show, "said Cintron, whose opponent exhibits 15-2 with 12 knockouts.
Cintron, in turn, was available to challenge Puerto Rican Daniel Santos, owner of the median strip junior World Boxing Association (WBA), if it comes out unscathed from his defense against Yuri Foreman on November 14.
"We are always available to challenge champions and Daniel is on my list."
