Comments Thread For: Hearn: Edgar Berlanga-Jaime Munguia Is A Great Fight - Puerto Rico, Mexico

NEW YORK - Eddie Hearn envisions a logical next step for his unbeaten super middleweight. However, it would have to come at the expense of working through his entertaining war of words with Hall of Fame former six-division titlist and current Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar De La Hoya.

Make Mungia vs David Benavidez at 168 that would be a good fight for the division, That's a solid fight for both fighters but Mungia vs Benavidez would be fireworks. Or Mungia vs Christian Mbilli. I can see Berlenga number 11 in the IBF vs William Scull who is number 1 in the IBF rankings being made to get him in position for a Caneloi fight.

Lol he really doesn’t get it does he. He really doesn’t understand when it’s the time to use this old ethnic rivalry. He thinks he can throw it out any time someone from Mexico and someone of PR origin are fighting lol. He loves mentioning these two ethnicities, he mentioned the poles and other Slavic Europeans for last nights fight, but curiously he still doesn’t want to mention the foundational black Americans as an ethnicity or fan base even though that’s the fan base of the biggest fights of the year and clearly the biggest rivalry in American boxing is a Mexican fighter vs an FBA fighter hence why davis vs Garcia was such a heavy sell, why Whitaker v Chavez, Randall v Chavez, Mosley v DLH, Mayweather vs all the Mexicans etc etc all big selling fights. I really want to understand why he just doesn’t want to name the ethnicity with the biggest foot print in American boxing. It’s odd. Is it fear?

I would love to see it, but I know it's not happening! Oscar would rather roll with PBC before working with Eddie, even though they're both with DAZN! Benavidez wants Munguia, and I could see that happening before Munguia vs. Berlanga! I can also see Benavidez stopping Munguia within 8!

Only thing great about this fight is the title. Mexico vs Puerto Rico. It would be a nice Jr varsity second string war. Both are hype job trash

Berlanga loses to all of them. The guy just can’t box. Comes straight ahead and offers no feints, doesn’t set anything up, keeps his head on the centerline. His only saving grace is his punching power and as he steps up in class, it’s only gonna get worse for him.

There's a great article about this potential fight by Scott Christ on "Bad Left Hook." The title is "Oscar De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn at it again: De La Hoya shoots down Munguia vs. Berlanga idea"

Either Munguia pummels Berlanga into submission or Berlanga lands that one one one that somehow penetrates Munguia's airtight defense....or rather non-defense.
