    Henry Maske

I was ****ing around on wikipedia, looking up European fighters with good amateur careers, and lengthy undefeated runs in the professionals.

Those specifically were: Sven Ottke, Henry Maske and Dariusz Michelzewski (spelling error, obviously).

I already know the rundown on Ottke and Dariusz.

All I really know about Maske is that he started his career 30-0, and lost to Virgil Hill in a unification fight that really pushed Hill into stardom in the light heavyweight division.

Wikipedia said something about Maske being the best German fighter ever. Any truth to that?

IF you thought that Sturm and Ottke are uninteresting you are not gonna like Maske.

Haha, I've never seen Ottke and I've never watched a Sturm fight from beginning to end. I have his fights with De La Hoya, Masoe, Castillejo I and II and Sylvester in my queue of fights to watch, but I haven't gotten around to them just yet.

So I take it that he's a very intelligent, safety first, low contact type of European style slickster who is not overly fan friendly, but usually finds a way to dominate and embarrass his opponent. Correct?

You know Iceman John Scully fought him in Germany.

That would be a great guy to ask about his ability.

            That's obviously pretty badass.

I can't imagine a title fight with less suspense than Virgil Hill fighting Firat Arslan... a prime fighter is fighting a guy who just lost to a guy coming off an eleven year layoff... Yeah, I'm sure that's going to be close.

Thank you! I'll certainly do that.

Look up Artur Grigorian, the original "King Arthur". Made 17 defenses of the WBO lightweight title which he held for 8 years, went undefeated in 36 fights until age 37 when he fought Acelino Freitas. Unfortunately he never tested his skills against the very best until getting old.

I saw him on boxrec when looking at Acelino Freitas's record. It's upsetting when people don't take on the best until they are too old, and they end up losing.

I couldn't have put that any better. Maske was as dull as steamed rice.
