Comments Thread For: Spence On Canelo: 'Definitely Will Take That Fight, 165-168 Pounds Is My Natural Weight'

A much-talked-about fantasy fight featuring Errol Spence Jr. is gaining serious steam with each passing sound byte. No, not Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) versus Terence Crawford Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) - that fight will finally take place July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and headline a Premier Boxing Champions card on Showtime pay-per-view.

Canelo won't fight any middleweights until he's clearly thinking retirement. He's afraid to lose against a fellow middleweight. Therefore, he will continue to handpick opponents that are bigger than him. It will be easier for him to accept losing against someone who is bigger than him.

Cinnabon doesn't want that type of problem, Spence's work rate is way too high, on top of his body punches and athleticism. Errol would gas him out and put him in the grinder.

How you gonna say 168 your natural weight? Just makes your career at 147 look bad

Yeah, I thought the same thing... That's weight bullying at it's finest... But if he can make the weight, he can make the fight...

At his height and frame, it does make sense that he walks around heavier than 147-160. Although 165 is still light. I figure someone of his stature and shape would walk around 185ish lbs.

Errol, how many guys around that weight that are Champs and top contenders like Champ Bivol which was actually at 175 have you been fighting recently?

I love you EJ but you got badly stunned imo by Ugas at 147 recently. I love Ugas too but there are many steps from getting stunned by Ugas to being competitive with Canelo.

If we assume Spence beats Bud which is not a foregone conclusion, and then Spence fights Canelo at 168, I pick Canelo by KO even though Spence is my favorite active fighter.
