How many of you attend all the local club shows within driving distance of your homes?
If you don't, and you care about the future of the sport, you should. These shows are blood in the veins of boxing's future. MMA has gained popularity because the fan base is loyal to the "blue-collar" shows in small towns and night clubs. These shows educate the fans and makes them more keenly interested when the big UFC production rolls out.
I bring this up because I have attended many half full club shows and off television shows over the past 10 years with great up and comers on the cards. These tickets are generally anywhere from 15 to 50 dollars. These are the type of shows we should be dragging our neighbors or co workers to for guys night. Doing this gives them a chance to turn into as big of fans as we are. If we start selling out local shows again, advertisers will jump on. If advertisers jump on local tv might jump on.
We can't complain about the sports demise if we don't try to fix it.
