  • Comments Thread For: Salita: I Would Be Comfortable Putting Izmailov In With Beterbiev Or Bivol; He's A Special Talent

Dmitriy Salita is eager for boxing fans to witness what he has long seen in Ali Izmailov. The undefeated Russian light heavyweight contender has just 10 fights on his professional record, but he is already ranked fifth by the IBF and 11th by the WBO. Izmailov (10-0, 7 KOs) will fight for the first time on American television Friday night, though, when he'll encounter Charles Foster (22-0, 12 KOs) in a 10-round fight for Izmailov's USBA 175-pound championship.

Wow! East Asia seems to be a hotbed for world class boxing, this guy, Beterbiev, Bivol, Golovkin and others.

East Asia? Neither one of the fighters you mentioned is from east asia. Bivol and Golovkin - Central Asia and Beterbiev, Izmailov are from the Caucusus.

Bivol is half Korean, which is East Asia.

GGG is half Kazakh and half Korean, which is Central Asia and East Asia.

I agree Beterbiev is nowhere near East Asian.

Idk anything about Izmailov, just learned about him with this thread.

With that said, neither of them are actually FROM East Asia, liked raised there or anything. Bivol is Russian and GGG is from Kazakhstan/Soviet.

Neither of them are really from Korea. So East Asia isn’t a hotbed for boxing. Central Asia and Russia do have good fighters though, that’s more of a hotbed.

Right! West Asia of course. My bad. I was thinking West but typed East. East Asia is China, Japan, Vietnam, and all those other good people from the "far east".

Yeah I know GGG and Bivol are both half Korean through their mothers, both are born in Central Asian countries though as you mention in your following post.

Izmailov is from Ingushetia, which is right next to Beterbiev's Chechnya (Northern Kavkaz).
