  • Comments Thread For: Jai Opetaia-Mateusz Masternak IBF Cruiserweight Title Fight Heads To June 15 Purse Bid

Jai Opetaia will await the highest bidder to determine the promoter of record for his first fight as a defending champ. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Opetaia's IBF mandatory title defense versus Poland's Mateusz Masternak will now head to a June 15 purse bid hearing. The two sides can still reach a deal prior to that point, but so far have been unable to come to terms.

The Saudi’s should bid aggressively for this and put it on the Usyk-Dubois undercard.

Great idea especially considering Masternak is from Poland. Only thing is, will Opetaia want to fight outside his home country in his first defence. We all know money talks though and the Saudis have ridiculously deep pockets so maybe they'll make him an offer he can't refuse.

Think Opetaia is having promotional issues so he’ll likely have to travel for this one I reckon.

I never heard anything about that but you may be right given that is the case. Funny though because they were talking about bringing Fury to the Suncorp Arena to fight him as ridiculous a proposition as that is.

I'm glad to hear Opetaia is getting back to action. I'd favor him over anyone at Cruiser right now.
