Pacquiao's speed is seen as the main weapon when he faces WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. [details]

Oh, oh, does this mean Pacquiao is not drinking his "special" juice? How will he cope with not being able to hurt Cotto. Get those vitamins Pac!!! Pronto!!
Who cares what a sparring partner thinks? Obviously if he was really good he wouldn't be sparring Pacquiao.

Let's stop acting like Manny has never been rocked before.

Why do you think he went up to Welterweight? and since then, has he been rocked like that again?

I'm pretty sure that Roach will have some other sparring partners to emulate other of Cotto's characteristics that Porter will probably can't provide. And yes, trainers use younger, talented and athletics fighters no doubt about that. It's like that in almost all training camps.

My point once again, is that, to me, it seems not important or worthy, to the extend of having even a post on this website of an opinion from a non experienced boxer that has seen probably half of the speed that most talented boxers have at the higher levels, saying how dazzled he was about the speed of one of the fastest (if not the fastest) man in the sport.

I have nothing against the man as a prospect or as a sparring partner, but if you have JMM (just an example), or any other high level experienced boxer, saying how fast or faster was Pacman than PBF or any other of the fast hands in the sport, then that for me is a important or worthy opinion deserving a post.
Again, circumstances dictate that it is important on some level. Were not talking about JMM or PBF were talking about training against BIG, strong, quick fighters who may not have experience of Cotto but know how to atleast box--so their input is valid. Is it big news? No. It's merely an udpate on the progress of the fighter.

There are just sparring partners and novice at that. Pac will spar with more partners but how you look with sparring partners necessarily doesn't translate into the ring. Pac has speed and does have power but is not one punch KO power, neither does Cotto. Both fighters pounds their adverasaries into submission if they can.

A big deal has been mentioned on Cotto gassing. He is a pressure fighter but once he decides to back off and box either they call it running or gassing out. I would understand if he held excessively or really got on his bike but he still counters as he backs off.

Kind of like when fighters get these sparring partners to imulate Mayweather's style but only to get embarassed by the real thing at fight night. Pac is not going to get any sparring partner the equivelant to Cotto and vice-versa. So all of this talk is BS.
Let em talk. On november 14 Cotto is gonna become the P4P king

This is one of the reasons why I'm leaning more on Cotto winning this fight.

Pacquiao can't hurt Cotto. Pacquiao may have the speed advantage, but we're forgetting that Cotto has excellent timing that can disrupt speed.

Why does every assume that pure punching power is the only way to stun/hurt an opponent?

IMO, the punches you can't see or account for will hurt you much more, and this is where Manny has the chance to hurt Cotto. Manny doesn't have brute strength, but he does throw punches that are quick enough and come from awkward angles, so him hurting Cotto is definitely not out of the question, IMO.

Either way, Porter is going to help Manny get accustomed to fighting a much bigger, and stronger opponent.

                  huh

floyd mayweather sr. accuses manny pacquiao using steriods during the fight against his man ricky hatton, he is amazed of what manny have done to his man in terms of speed. he mean to manny that he is cheating in the fight, look guys when mayweather jr. fought marquez thats a clear cheatings. floyd jr. cheat in the weigh in, he came 4 pounds heavier than marquez, he doesnt care if he will pay the penalty as long as he cheat. guys, open your eyes. who`s cheating now? is it manny pacquiao or floyd mayweather jr?

Thye news might be true but Porter is a Junior MW and because he have no scheduled forthcoming fight in the near future, his present weight might be around 164lbs to 170lbs, his assumed actual fighting weight! Whereas Pac is on the process of trimmimg down his weight and simply his power not matched with Porter size.

But i don't think Pac gives him some solid left hand shot, maybe pac did not land anything because I think they are on test not of his power punch but his speed. Let's see on their next sparring if what would happen.
