if so, why do people assume he will walk through cotto? what freddie roach said stands. yes miguel cotto is the complete fighter. period.
the question in any of the fights where manny has jumped up in weight is what happens when he gets hit? i mean, lets face it, its just a matter of time before his speed will be his undoing. jmm coped very well against him and i think nciked the win in the first but, the second shoulda been a draw.
anyway, a calculated and patient miguel cotto(his usual self) will only need one thing on the night.....TIMING. thats it,game over freddy because once a fighter is able to time mannys speed for a single counter shot at this weight it will be lights out for sure and i pick miguel cotto on any night against him.
it would have been easier for arum to have picked somebody like clottey or possibly another bout at 140Ib against maybe timothy "*****" bradley or maybe devon alexander before facing a fearsome fighter like cotto.
i also believe that cotto got his first loss as a result of glove/wraps tampering and should be involved in a rematch with that ***** margharito.
Couldn't agree more.... Makes 100% sense.... It's a logical and rational argument.

Freddy is doing his job…. What can you expect…for him to say that there is no way his meal ticket can KO an opponent? What do you expect from Khan… to say that his stablemate has no chance against Mayweather? They are doing their thing… which is to support their man.
Having said that… I tell you that south of 140 lbs… Cotto would get the KTFO. Not because he lack skills, but rather because his frame will not let him compete and Pacman is a monster at those weights. Now, at 147+ the advantage goes to the Caguas’ Crusher. So I have to say, that at 145, the plain field is somewhat leveled. Pacman will have his speed and explosive power while taking away from Cotto’s stamina & strength. While Cotto will have the advantage of Size and power while making the Pacman come up 5 pounds.
The way I see the fight is maybe to simple. Cotto has been fighting bigger guys, taking solid punches (some with plaster) from bigger and also quick fighters. Every time he has fought a smaller quick boxer, he has either KOed them or really hurt them. In the other hand, Pacman has fought fantastic fighter (no need to go over his resume) but they were smaller than Cotto. If Marquez made Pacman’s head snap back… imagine what Cotto can do? Both fighters get hit… often…. Who can do the most damage at that weight? I know that Cotto has been hit flush by Mosely, Clottey, Margacheato & Judah and not been knock out by a single punch (with Margo he took knee after a hell of a beating…. And tell me that Pacman will have been able to stand to that onslaught).
What I see is Cotto using his timing, good technical skills to take away Pacmans speed and straight left. He will start making the Pacman back up (with smart preassure – not a Hatton march of death) and punishing the smaller fighter to the body. Look out for Cotto’s Jab… it will disrupt the filipino’s timing and will tag him all night long (alas Mosley). At the end, I see a KO victory for the PR in a fantastic fight that will be exciting until the end.
Beautifully said. Am very pleased with this blog. People are finally waking up and smelling the coffee. Before, it was just a bunch of Pac and Cotto nut huggers but this thread shows people making smart, analytical, rational and logical observations. I can't wait for this fight.... I truly hope that Cotto wins but if Pacquiao gets the win, I will also be his fan...

IMO, though Roach predictions are somewhat unrealistic and almost discarded as out of context, he do predicting based on what he observes and he resulted oftentimes correct! Unlike Floyd Sr. making predictions based on his hatred (or envy?) to either Roach or Pac, or both but consequently all derailed!
At one time, I don't believe in Roach predictions, but considering his last two daring predictions correct, I don't have reason not to believe him this time.
