Comments Thread For: Stevenson: I Thought Lomachenko Was Done, But Not Anymore - I'd Love To Fight Him

Shakur Stevenson is calling for matchups against the likes of Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis, but those fights would appear to be a bit farfetched considering the current lightweight landscape.

When your young you tend to think 35 is old. Then next thing you know, your pushing 35 and honestly If your in good shape and get good rest it really doesn't feel to much different than 29 or 30. Loma won't really decline until he's around late 36ish or 37 if he chooses to stay around that long...

“If it was me and I was in [Haney’s] shoes, I would for sure run it back, because I would want the public to judge me off that fight,” Now that’s the mentality to have. Too many of these dudes take their shady wins, pretend they clearly won and run or delay rematches for years until they feel it’s safer. Run it back and **** everyone up if you can.

Loma looked closer to done than in his prime. A lot of folks will call him out. He's the gateway to more $$$, publicity, fame and bragging rights.

Loma isnt shot. He just lost. Shakur saw what Haney did and knows he can replicate that with no problem. He also has much better defense than Haney.

Shakur is my guy but he clearly wanted Loma to win because he figures it would be an easy win.

I like this fight and I agree with Shakur, an immediate rematch is the only correct response to a fight/decision like the one we just saw. There will always be an asterisk next to this fight on Devin Haney's resume. I don't expect a rematch to happen though, Devin killed himself to make weight and he obviously gassed out in the second half, I think this was his last fight at 135 lbs. Shakur vs Loma or Tank for the best 135 pounder is what I wanna see.

Yes, Top Rank should attempt to make that fight happen as soon as possible. However, I know that Team Loma won't take it, if it's not for a Final title eliminator. If the WBC sanctions it as final eliminator then Team Loma would take it in a heartbeat.
