You ;think judging a fight is an exact science ? No one for the most part is getting bent out of shape it is more of a close match up that was even closer to a tie then a win for either guy. But the fight game has its own rhythm i get that. Besides being a fan means being disappointed and sometimes disillusioned from time to time. And what is wrong with being a casual fan ? How is boxing going to grow get new fans if people who do not live die eat and sleep this sport are not welcomed in ? Or should we just continue on with celebrity fights and girlie belts ? That dilutes the sport of boxing dont make it more inclusive.Comment

For a real time example of how this **** kills the sport. I had a friend who lives a state away text me a few times about the fight. He was contemplating if he would get it and so was I. On the day of the fight he texted me....I am just going to watch a round by round online, I am sick of spending money on these crap shows.
I bought it. My friend texted me the next day and said, "I knew there would be something ridiculous with it. Saved myself $60 and the frustration, lol."
Boxing has always had a shady rep. But at this point, it has gotten so obvious that casuals aren't buying fights and losing interest, because they assume bad judging and bad refs, etc.
If that doesn't change, the sport will be totally dead in a decade. Because so few will watch that thete won't be money in it for anyone.Comment

Very well said. I am a Lomachenko fan and I am definitely bummed that he didn't get the win that I, and many others thought that he deserved, but I am equally disappointed about the shady business of the sport, for the exact reason that you stated. I get that boxing is a business as much as it is a sport, and make no mistake, it's a brutal way to make a living, I mean the saying of 'you don't play boxing' exists for a reason. But, if too many powerful people in the sport put too much emphasis on the short term with their greed, and not consider the 'big picture' and the negative consequences and ramifications of their short sighted business model, then boxing will slowly bleed out, and those same powerful people will have no one else to blame when the well eventually runs dry.Comment

Been seeing some posts putting a great deal of stock into the amount of body work Haney was accumulating. It was a good tool during the fight but in my opinion body work shouldn’t be scored equally to clean shots to the head. Body work is predominately implemented to halt momentum and wear down the legs to possibly force a stoppage. If the fight goes the distance and the opponent is still outlanding and putting out the cleaner head snapping shots, then was the body work really effective? Can’t say it was a robbery because it was a highly competitive fight, but it’s not a stretch to say lomachenko clearly won.Comment

If you watch it with no sound and score it with no bias, based on effective punching, ring generalship, punch accuracy and who got hurt, it isn't a close fight. Loma clearly won 8-4 with 9-3 being totally fair. No one can give Haney more than four rounds. There is no way, if you judge the fight on pro boxing standards, not Olympic standards.
So by that standard, any fight where a young fighter is bigger and he doesn't get KO'd he wins, even if he gets clearly beaten. It makes the sport pointless, a state in which the sport is approaching quickly. This insanity and the Romero craziness have exposed the sport. And people are losing interest fast.
The only people saying it was a chess match and close are those who picked Haney and protecting their egos. And now that the majority of boxers and people in boxing are saying it was a joke, those same people are saying, nah, just let it go, it happens.
Somebody better figure this **** out, or boxing is done, and soon.

There would be no controversy if Devin Haney was white, the truth is lomachenko did not do enough to take the belts from the champ and his face speaks for itself. To me it looks like the whole world has to bow down to Bumachenko because he comes from a country which is backed by the west, so he can do no wrong and he can not lose no matter what happens. Just the commentators comments about how Bumachenko went to Ukraine for a year to fight tells you everything you need to know, the guy went for a few weeks didn't fire a single bullet nor was a bullet fired at him...once the fighting started he made sure his ass was out of there fast..much easier being a "hero" in the United States behind the tv screen,
