“Before, I thought he would be better,” said Lomachenko, who broke down and cried in his locker room. “He’s a tough fighter. But he’s not a pound-for-pound fighter.”
Wow Loma really sounds weak here. Loma has looked poor ever since he moved up in weight. Just like Canelo. These guys should stick to a realistic weight
That's because the US is a superior country. Other countries have to celebrate what they've got which is often one or two elite athletes in the whole country
So you have a lot of elite athletes... so plenty to celebrate and be proud of right? But still no one comes out to support them... Not sure if you're making the point you intended...
As for fans 'celebrating' what we've got- no, it's because some people are actual fans of boxing, not names. Why should it matter if they're 'elite' or not?Comment

The US always has top people in every sport - it's not such a big deal for them. We have had a lot of very good boxers here in the UK in recent times but it's still relatively novel for us.Comment

I'm from the UK dude. Just saying the truth. I remember when the Scottish (GB) curling team either won or almost won Olympic gold and suddenly everyone knew about curling here and it was all over TV. Also who has cared about the decathlon since Daley Thompson retired or the Heptathlon since Ennis retired? We get interest in all these niche sports just because we have a top guy or girl in them and the media gets excited.

And ha sorry for assuming you were American for saying that!Comment

Me: "Supporting someone based on race is ******."
You: "You're a racist!"
And yeah, choosing to support a fighter based on their race is racist. It's not me seeing racism everywhere, it is pointing out one instance. To which your response was to call me racist.
Holy casserole you have to go back to school and finish 2nd grade.Comment

That's funny because the US can't pay its bills, is dramatically dropping in level of education annually and its citizens are killing each other on a regular basis but that's ok, you can hang out in your bubble all day, your call.Comment

Who cares what Atlas and Rafael say? They are not former or current elite level boxers. You must read the Teddy Atlas bible ever night before bed to make such a ridiculous comparison. The opinion of Bud and Shakur, ACTUAL elite level pro boxers, hold way more ground than that of egomaniac Teddy Atlas and reporter Dan Rafael.Comment
