If he wins against Loma then his first best option is to fight for undisputed against the Tankster on Showtime PPV. Devin was at the Ryan v Tank fight and saw first hand what a very successful and lucrative PPV event can yield. Go get the money son and then move up.

It would be the most foolish thing to do is re-sign with Dazn. Hearn didn't do didley squat for him the first time and he won'y be any better the second time around. Just ask Andrade. Any American boxer who picks Dazn over TR and Pbc just isnt that bright. Regis will be saying the same thing sometime in summer '24!

Belts don't mean ****, especially looking at how he got them. Injured Loma loses to Lopez in a fight that could have been a draw. Lopez, exposed now as not great, loses the belts in freak loss to Kambosos, and Lopez was likely not 100%. Kambosos has heart but is not a good boxer. Haney beats him in a boring fight. And another boring as hell rematch.

Haney is a guy no one will remember at all after his career is over.
At 135lbs the belts came to Devin prepackaged, he never actually fought the fights for name recognition and he doesn't have the time at 135lbs to force the fights he needs.

At 140lbs a belt will give Haney the opportunity to fight the fights to make himself memorable. That said, I'm still skeptical in the era of boxing that allows it's biggest star to use ethnicity to avoid his biggest challengers and the biggest pay days go to the least accomplished.

Okay, but that's not what I'm talking about. As a promoter, Hearn shouldn't be talking down to people that could provide him business in the future. Whether you and I think it would be foolish to sign with DAZN doesn't really matter here.

"in the era of boxing that allows its biggest star to use ethnicity to avoid his biggest challengers" ... are we talking about Devin or Canelo?

Haney needs the belts to bring big fights to him. At TR both Taylor and Lopez are vulnerable, Lopez is young and fast but he's mentally fragile and Taylor doesn't have the commitment or sharpness pre-Regis Prograis, he's done.

Picking up a belt at 140 without facing Prograis or Matias may be the smartest move he can make. I not saying that Haney can't beat Prograis or Matias but that win or lose, both seem to do a lot of long lasting damage.
