Comments Thread For: Hearn on Devin Haney: His Value Is that He's Undisputed Champion; If He Moves Up to 140, He's Beltless
Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney will likely have to pay a small price for moving up in the weight, according to his former promoter Eddie Hearn.

He hasn't gotten to Tank or Ryan popularity levels because he has no KO power and his style is terrible to watch.
Belts don't mean ****, especially looking at how he got them. Injured Loma loses to Lopez in a fight that could have been a draw. Lopez, exposed now as not great, loses the belts in freak loss to Kambosos, and Lopez was likely not 100%. Kambosos has heart but is not a good boxer. Haney beats him in a boring fight. And another boring as hell rematch.
Haney is a guy no one will remember at all after his career is over.
Hearn is a little odd. He says things to the media you would expect to hear from him behind closed doors, not with a camera and microphone on his face. He could have worded everything he said differently so that it didn't look like he is salty Haney has been working with Top Rank recently and not him.
He could immediately challenge for the WBO title @ 140, especially if he re-signs with TR!
100% spot on!
Haney needs the belts to bring big fights to him. At TR both Taylor and Lopez are vulnerable, Lopez is young and fast but he's mentally fragile and Taylor doesn't have the commitment or sharpness pre-Regis Prograis, he's done.
Picking up a belt at 140 without facing Prograis or Matias may be the smartest move he can make. I not saying that Haney can't beat Prograis or Matias but that win or lose, both seem to do a lot of long lasting damage.

Haney is a guy that hasn't turned down a challenge yet.
devin became number 1 in the wbc. Loma asked for franchise
Devin tried to unify with teofimo. Teo chose to fight his mandatory and loss
Ryan was mandatory to Devin and turned it down.
All devin did was beat the man who beat the man who beat the man. Now Devin is having trouble making weight and still chose to fight loma instead of leaving the division.
These are all facts. Not opinions
Haney is the definition of a champ. His answer is always yes when asked about smoke. How tf can you hate that?
