Comments Thread For: Hearn on Prograis: Pressure's on Us to Deliver Big Fight; If We Can't, We'll Probably Lose Him

Eddie Hearn is confident that his new signee, Regis Prograis, will be able to garner a significant fight or two under his promotional aegis.

Prograis' next title defense against Liam Paro, while a very good opponent, it isn't a big fight by any stretch of the imagination.
His next fight after the Paro defense, has to be a big fight, it shouldn't take Hearn 3 fight's to get any of his top fighter's a big fight.

Only two interesting names on Matchroom's entire 140 roster, Hitchins and Catterall, and neither are big fights because most people don't know who they are. Even the Garcia fight wouldn't be as big against Prograis, because Regis doesn't carry Tank's popularity and there's no storyline or grudges.

Odd choice of promoters for a 34 year old who has never made a huge purse in his career. Very odd. But what do I know? Prograis moves strangely.

There's no one on the DAZN roster at 140. All the big names at 140 are with Bob. Catterall is a very good fighter, but no one knows who he is. And Prograis will never jump to 147. He'd get slaughtered there.

Let me answer that question for him. No Regis you will not be getting any big fights. Your 3 fight deal is gonna consist of an Aussie and two Euro stiffs. You're not fighting Subriel on Dazn because Showtime wants thattt fight. Doubt if Devin will resign with Dazn after moving to 140 because most the talent is at TR and the 2 belts are at Pbc. You will not be fighting Ryan because Oscar is not going to be giving Hearn any helper building MR's profile. Oscar wants Hearn out of America. This signing is just another feeble attempt by him to build an American roster. He signs fighters to prevent American fights from happening. He signed Tevin Farmer to block the Tank fight. Signed Deevin and blocked the Ryan fight. Signed Andrade to block the Charlo fight. Signed Canelo to block David. Took AJ off Showtime to block Wilder. Now he signed Andy Cruz and immediately started calling out the TR/Pbc lightweights. Clown shyte bro!

I just listened to the latest podcast episode of Chris Mannix where he interviews Regis. Regis "big money fight" is him banking on Hearn signing Subriel to Matchroom. Regis said that Hearn has been trying to lure Subriel who is apparently a free agent. Regis did not want to sign to TR in part because of Ramirez and Teo' contractual uncertainty with TR (one fight left for each apparently)

In the same interview, Regis clearly states that he signed to Matchroom because Matchroom would let him set up his own promotion company and that Regis would have a say on the undercard. A freedom TR would not grant him despite offering more money.

Listening to Regis, you would think he was a 26-28 years old fighter mapping out his boxing future. Granted Regis has not been through wars but I felt no sense of urgency from a 34 years old to "make things happen" unlike say an Andrade, who at least, keeps barking trying to get a big fight.

Your right about all those point's that you just made, but the fighter himself choose to sign with Hearn rather than Arum.
Maybe he's been promised something that we don't know about, because that's the only way that he would've turned down more money to sing with Arum.
Prograis already said that he didn't believe that Arum would get him the big fight's that he's looking for, you don't say that unless you know something.
Regis Prograis is in a better position to know what's going on in the boxing world, than we are because he's actually living it, while we are merely spectator's.

Wow! I knew some of that information, but not all of that information, and it make's a lot of sense because Arum want's to rule your world when you sign with him.
He would never go for Regis setting up his own company, or let him have much say on the any under card that he's promoting, that's just how Bob Arum has always been.
So just like I was explaining it to BlackRobb, that Regis must have been promised something that we didn't know about, because that's the only way that walking away from more money makes any sense.
Thank's for that clarifying information, because I had missed that Chris Mannix's Podcast interviewing Regis Prograis.
I'm pretty sure that Hearn is going to offer Matias money he hasn't seen yet in his career to sign with him, in order to make the between him, and Prograis.

I think that because showtime/pbc just did a 1.3 mill Ppv event then they have the cash outmatch Hearn. Dazn put him on a very tight budget and probably told him that if he doesn't spend wisely and produce then at the end of this 3 year deal it is over for MR in America.
