This is what happens when a boxer has little leverage; they make public statements that go against their interests, and could eventually be used against them. Why did Lara move up to begin with? He could've just stayed at 154 which was a MUCH hotter division. He probably moved up because he's getting older and didn't want to cut the extra weight.

What are you rewriting history now? Canelo vacated the belt to avoid the WBC deadline on negotiating a fight with GGG. GGG was promoted from interim champion in May of 2016. Canelo's handlers didn't screw up his cycle causing him to piss hot until March of 2018. Get your facts straight.

And Charlo was also "handed" the WBC when, once again, Canelo didn't want to fight him. How on Earth Charlo hasn't been stripped by now is beyond me, but that's off topic.

So was Lennox Lewis. So was Hasim Rahman. So was Sergio Martinez. So was Oscar DeLaHoya.

Ideally everyone beats the man who beat the man but it doesn't always work out that way. They all "fought" for it, whether it was in their previous fight in becoming interim champ to later get promoted or to fight for a vacant belt like Garcia did against Guerrero. This is what happens when you have 50 different belts and when guys either duck or would rather chase a payday than defend their titles.

Damn, it's not bad enough that Lara is 40, but a 155 catchweight too?
I respect Danny Garcia's accomplishment's, heart, and grit, but this is all wrong. If you want that 160 pound title belt, fight him at his weight not at 155.
If your moving up, then you have to be willing to move up the whole 6 pound's up to 160 pound's, you can do this, otherwise even if you win you won't get the respect.
Lara is 40 year's old, yet you want more of an advantage than age, by forcing the old man to drain himself for a decent pay day.
I'll be rooting for Lara when he fight's you because this is the wrong way to go about trying to make history, this sound's like one of your sneaky father's idea's.

I hate to agree with you on this one, but those are the fact's, as plain and simple as can be stated.

Most fighters move to another weight class because they can’t beat the fighters in their current weight class and in Danny’s case his power hasn’t moved up with him and he’s knows that and his team knows that and he’s going to take a bunch of cash out fights for his easiest path to retirement

Sad that Jermall Charlo wouldn't comeback to fight Lara! WBC needs to strip him already!

Hate to say it, but I hope Lara really puts the beats on Danny. This was the wrong move Swift, its classless and shameful. Garcia is known for fighting anybody in his division no matter how good they are, but Jermell and Tszyu are sitting right there, but he chooses to drain a senior citizen for his belt in a higher weight class, but without actually moving up.

Yes, Lara is partly to blame because he is blinded by the opportunity to get a fat paycheck, but if Garcia truly wants to fight him for his Middleweight title, then one pound over 154 isn't the way to do it. I could see if Danny had a belt at 154 and Lara was coming down to fight for Garcia's title, but Danny doesn't have anything. Please Lara, put some oil on those joints, eat something rich in fiber followed by a Geritol pill and some prune juice, and beat the coward out of Swift.

This has nothing to do with ggg or Haney so why would I mention them?

There's something weird about the fact that a 40-year old Lara vs. an inactive Danny Garcia at 155 is one of the most intriguing matchups PBC can book.
