Bivol is an easier fight for canelo than benevidez

Like I said, if he could've by now, he would've. We've literally been hearing the same **** for 10 years about him improving his stamina. Whatever improvement he makes is going to be marginal. It's like working on power- eventually you are going to plateau no matter how hard you work at it. And now that he's at the higher weights, it'll be even harder to make enough of an improvement, at least naturally. From what we've seen, Bivol looks to be able to step it up a gear if needed; and if that happens, Canelo won't be able to keep up, just like before.
The man is going to try, and if he is going to try? There is a chance that Alvarez can improve his endurance.
If he focuses everything in his training to work towards improving endurance, it is going to improve by a percentage.
Will that be enough? Well during the rematch people will find out.
Alvarez is not going to suddenly gain Joe Calzaghe type endurance, but he can improve etc.Last edited by AKAcronym; 05-09-2023, 05:10 PM.Comment

Canelo also hits harder than anybody Benavidez fought so far.
But I am not sure Benavidez hits harder than Bivol. he has different style, he is there to get hit. It would be a great Mexican war.Comment

If elite Mexican fighters are anything, it’s durable
Alvarez has power but is far from a ko artist
I think this would be a terrific fight.
I’d favor Ben by the time they do fight
Ben probably prime by then while Alvarez won’t beComment

The myth of Benavidez blocking punches with his face makes me laugh. He was unmarked vs Plant and anyone he has ever fought while Canelo was wearing glasses post fight vs John Ryder. Benavidez is rarely hit clean. He is 5th on compubox for lowest opponent power punch connect % also.Comment

Well he’s getting sparked without winning one round then because anyone that watched the Bivol vs Canelo fight from the perspective in the crowd knows Canelo didn’t win one roundThatd the only reason he wants to fight bivol.
Bivol.is a good fighter, but hes very basic. Throws the jab and straight and doesnt tey and hurt you.
Theres a reason they tried cherry picking him
Benevidez is a diff animal. He is literally a style match-up nightmare for clenelo.
Canelo - 5-7 low volume puncher, cement feet, bad stamina, one punch at a time, fights in a high guard lol
Benevidez - 6-2 , high volume, rangey, great jab and straight who knows how to fight tall, body puncher, combonations, awkard punchesComment

Benevidez is 100x more hittable than Bivol. Benevidez would take a beating and dish one out. Bivol gonna put on another masterclass and take no damageComment

Bivol's stamina is far superior to Benavidez, it isnt even close. Benavidez was gassed with Plant too. Plant was out on his feet late in the fight and just crowding in close to benavidez who smothered his work, his boxing IQ is too low to step back and give himself room to get the KO, he is impatient and sloppy.
Bivol is moving in the late rounds like its the first. He has great stamina.
Canelo is going to atleast be able to land on Benavidez so that alone makes it a much easier fight than Bivol.Comment

I think his endurance is marginally better when he trains as a 168 pound fighter, compared to fighting at the 175 pound limit.

So I have suggested, when and if he rematches Bivol at 175 pounds. Alvarez should not alter his training that much, and just train as if he was preparing for a fight at 168 pounds.
This constant moving up and down in weight, I personally don't think it is benefiting his conditioning.
When Mayweather Junior moved up to 154 pounds briefly to fight Oscar De La Hoya, he never altered his training much 'And I think those were the right tactics for a fighter, if they are not weight drained already at the weight'.
Note: Alvarez for me has always been a 160-168 pound fighter weight draining himself early on in his career to fight at 147-154 ponds etc.
