Yes I believe some bodies are better at taking body shots because of how a fighter trains or sometimes due to the fat that cushions. However, I've seen larger guys get hurt to the body. I think a lot of it is HOW they get hit to the body. Mayweather didn't have much fat during his pro career, but he got hit to the body. However, he trained to absorb the shots and didn't really get clipped to the ribs or liver WHILE in the middle of throwing a shot.

I think that is the biggest issue. Some get hit hard to the body when they are not tensed up or tightened, or being countered while throwing their own shot which leaves their body and beathing/wind exposed.

Davis and Garcia threw their lefts at the same time. Garcia's was fast and hard over the top while Davis' landed cleanly to the exposed left side of Garcia's hook.

some people are just more durable than others.

        higher threshold of pain.

more robust protection for the liver

it all comes down to genetics really. same as a chin.

Find bodyshot ko’s amongst elites. It’s very rare. The much bigger Hopkins vs Hoya or Jones breaking Hill’s ribs. Not many more I can think of. I know Tarver fought with broken ribs. Bodyshots is all about overcoming pain. Plenty of top fighter’s have been ko’d. But bodyshot ko? These guys are generally too tough for that.

Which makes it worse for Ryan that he gave in to such a light punch.

The punch hit Garcia in a bad spot, I’ll him that much. High ribcage, ouch.

A lot of guys pissing blood

              Ali vs Foreman

              Pac vs Margarito.

They usually have to eat the shots but they over come them.

Even in losing, like chuvalo to Foraman, it wasnt just one shot but a sustained body attack. So one shot body punch KO's are very rare.

pac vs marg.... pac took a good shot to the body that almost dropped him... boy had to circle around the whole ring to recover.. something Ryan didnt even try to do.
