Comments Thread For: Tank Runs Over Garcia: Weekend Afterthoughts

Another show has come and gone and the machine moves on to the next. So it was and so it will be...but this time we got a pretty good show for the trouble. Boxing has been on a roll in 2023 and its first mega-event held up its end of the bargain. We got all the bells and whistles in the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia showdown. The preview shows were well produced; Sports Center gave us a split screen of the combatants; the fight ended conclusively; and, even in the aftermath, allegations of banned promoters and death threats against Oscar De La Hoya were left to stoke the embers.

Nice read. I would like Tank to face the Haney - Loma winner next. But will boxing politics allow this to happen? Tank surely has what it takes to crown himself the king of lightweight.

"The gap between Davis and Garcia was less physical than it was academic. Davis’s boxing IQ was just too high for Garcia."

Drop a Clue Bomb!!! Davis vs. Stevenson! Make It Happen NEXT! Let's Keep It Rollin' in the 23!

It was somewhat of an illusion, that Garcia had a very good chance of winning.

I thought he had a chance, but now I know that Davis is the real deal.

Still, I don't think I'd wake up in the middle of the night (S.Africa) to watch any fight anytime soon, unless it's something like Crawford -Spence, or Canelo-Benavidez or Morrell.

Most fights that are very hyped nowadays just don't live up to it.

Love this quote. "it was Davis who was keeping the fight at the measured pace he prefers" "measured pace he prefers" What a pathetic joke boxing has become. Davis landed 5 punches average per round at 23%. Thats FIVE per round. He landed 3 in round 3 and won the round. This is what they call a super fight.

Not a single one of those people in this thread that are always complaining that he doesn't and hasn't fought anyone. The writer gave them too many facts to continue with their fictitious, hating narratives. I guess they will all act like they never read this one, but if I feel like stepping on a few of their egos, I will be sure to remind them.

Yeah... the bar is low. This fight was not exciting until Davis decided it was time to end it. It was a GOOD fight, technically sound and clean shots. But it was not exciting.
