One of the latest trends I hate in boxing today....

Discussing what goes on in sparring. Hagler was dropped by his sparring partner Bobby Patterson, Leonard was out on his feet by Quincy Taylor, and after the wars with Ali, Fraizer was being manhandled by Norton. These things weren't promoted and covered to the extreme like stuff today. Greg Page dropping Tyson as he was training for Douglass was used as a marketing tool by Don King because he was lining up a fight with Page after Tyson would have beat Douglass and Holyfield haha. You guys got to agree that even if you don't like a fighter, it's not right that sparring footage is being leaked today at rates I've never seen in the past. Rolly getting knocked out in sparring should have NEVER been leaked. Ryan Garcia sparring partners talking about what happened to him should never have happened. Tank getting worked over by a welterweight should have never been leaked. Maybe I'm just old school, but when me and my team were sparring in my amateur days, the guys i beat up in sparring that were slightly smaller than me and the guys bigger than me that were giving me that work, no one saw any footage and it was never discussed. I just think it's classless and immature

True but that’s society today in general these days. Everyone has a cell phone/social media account and everyone wants clout.

Now everyone has access to a camera not like in the past, in the past would have happened the same if not worse since boxing was more popular.

        It's classless indeed

I can somewhat understand fighters telling stories of what happened, I don't like it but it could be used as a tool to antagonise an opponent.

what I cant stand is trainers doing it. Now we've got Bakole's trainer running around to every interviewer saying he knocked out Usyk, Dubois etc..

Trainers should have much more class than that.

It's usually two guys who are going to fight each other whose sparring stories rear ugly head

As others already said: everyone has a movie studio in their pocket, and the ability to broadcast footage instantly. What’s less prevalent is the understanding that sparring ain’t fighting. Throughout boxing history, champions have often had a rough go in the gym. Most don’t know that, so this current trend has perpetuated itself.

What makes this worse imo is its posters on this site doing this.

I assume an account on this site means youre a knowledgeable fan that gets losing in sparring is what happens.l

You want tough work in sparring. If you just ko bums in sparring, your team is doing you a disservice.

this is true, but gyms should start having security and putting signs on the door that no recording is allowed during sparring. I know that is hard to monitor, but I'm sure they can find a way.

u can never have the same intensity and drive in sparing all the time, adrenaline is very powerful especially under the lights on the big night
