You know who wanted that franchise BS to happen? Everyone involved but the fighters. Haneys team, Lomas team, Haneys promoter, Lomas promoter.... they all loved it. Of course they can't say that in public, but they loved it.

Boxing's structure has changed - the best don't end up fighting on HBO now regardless of promoters, instead promoters are signing exclusive content deals with networks. It's now an existential threat for a promoter if he lets one of his big name fighters go fight on another network - even if it's result of a pure bid.... because the network is providing the promoter a bankroll. "Why didn't you bid more for the biggest fight?" You know why - they wanna put on ****ty fights for cheap and pocket the difference.

The franchise belts are the WBC trying to adapt to (and exploit) the changing business - allow everyone to keep their belts and not be forced to fight on networks they aren't signed to.

It's a disgrace, but the truth is it means more world titles for the top guys so the promoters, managers, etc all love it. If they say they don't - they're lying.

How I miss HBO, USA Tuesday Night Fights and ESPN Friday Night Fights

Pretty disappointed in Ryan. I feel in hindsight he was exposed for being a hypejob that wasn't ready to step above the level he was fighting in & also showed he was mentally not ready or willing to take it to that next step!

From the get go he didn't do anything he was supposed to be doing by not being busy and allowing Tank chance to find his range, rhythm and confidence quicker than he should have.

Ryan was doing his best work in round 2 by opening up but lost confidence and became gunshy the moment he was dropped! That KD took away any confidence or gameplan he had going into the fight.

For a young, prime, undefeated fighter, stepping up in the biggest fight of his life, didn't show enough urgency, excitement, determination, care or effort. Left no argument for a rematch or much reason to have faith in his future.
Rolly or Kambosos would be very tough fights for Ryan.

What an absolute borefest. That much hype for 74 landed punches combined and p4p with 35 landed in 7 rounds. Boxing is in deep trouble. Absolute stinker.
