Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia: Stats and Stakes

By Cliff Rold - Someone had to be first. The idea of a "fab four" for a new generation is something any boxing fan could get excited about. As Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Teofimo Lopez made their way up the ranks, they were linked by the possibilities and potential they presented for the future.

Teofomo Lopez won the lineal lightweight crown?
        Sorry. No.

Lomachenko gave up the WBC belt when he refused to fight mandatory challenger Devin Haney, and then petitioned the WBC to be franchise champion.

Devin Haney then became the WBC champion and Lopez refused to fight Haney for undisputed after Lopez beat Lomachenko, choosing instead to lose to his IBF mandatory Kambosos.

Devin Haney became the lineal champion when he beat Kambosos for undisputed, becoming the first 4-belt undisputed lightweight champion in boxing history.

No. Nobody argues this. Not even Haney's Dad. Loma fought Teo instead of Haney. Teo had to fight the IBF mandatory. Regardless Teo clearly won the lineal when he beat Loma. For you to even interject Haney in there at the time with his horrible win over Linares (who Loma already beat) is laughable.

Fans deserves a fight that doesn't just look like a classic on paper.....but one that actually plays out like a classic when Tank and Garcia gets in the ring.

Tank is the better boxer. He can set up opponents. But I really haven't seen Tank face a super power puncher that is in their prime. Garcia hits hard. It will come down to who can handle their opponent's power punches.
