Is it me or has there been less boxing on PPV?

for the last couple years every single fight seems to be on ppv, even the fights where neither guy was a name it was still put on ppv and generated low numbers.

this seems to have changed in 2009

cotto vs clottey wasn't on ppv,nor was williams vs winky or margarito vs mosley.or Klitschko vs arreola

the fights would have been put on ppv three years ago without question.

so what has changed exactly? why have there been less fights on ppv? not that I'm complaining of course, less ppv is a good thing

Does showtime even do ppv anymore?

There has been less HBO PPV's but Top Rank still puts out the JCC Jr cards all the same.

Yup. I think that was the plan for 2009. The less PPV, the more people will watch boxing perhaps. Seems like the only super star names are gonna get PPV. What they really need to do is start showing boxing consistently on cable. I think that'll boost up revenues.

            Sergio Martinez vs Joshua Clottey

I couldn't have put it better myself. I wonder if those mini 24/7's aka "Countdown to Fighter A - Fighter B" will ever come back for the lesser fights.
