Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Responds to Joshua: There Are Trainers That Are Yes-Men; I'm Not One of Them

Robert Garcia has found it unfortunate that his one-time client, Anthony Joshua, interpreted his criticism as a sign of disrespect. Garcia briefly worked with London's Joshua last year ahead of Joshua's rematch with unified heavyweight champion

I'm sorry, but only a yes-man would move his arse from the US to the UK to train a fighter. And he was prepared to do it again.
    Also, he talks too much.

Garcia isn't wrong about anything he's saying lol... and he's even giving credit where due, to another trainer.

Garcia is not only given a platform to speak, but usually a lot of this stuff comes from questions being asked... He's opinionated for sure, but he's also a world class trainer. You don't have to like everything he says, but he has more merit than you, me, or anyone else on this forum. And again, he's not wrong. I'm sure he moved to the UK because he was hired for a job, and I'm sure Joshua didn't want to train in Riverside. Even with all the millions, Garcia isn't someone training his fighters in some fancy ****ing gym. It's a built ****ing warehouse on some not so 'nice' property in Riverside California.

It's no secret that Joshua has been around yes men for probably his entire career.

If Derrick James was the best trainer in the world, Earl Spence would have fought and beaten Crawford already. I call CAP on Robert Garcia.

I’ve always stated that one of AJ’s major problems was being surrounded by yes men
Always very critical if anyone said something and all his training had to be on his terms
Garcia ain’t the greatest but he ain’t wrong in what he’s saying

Apart from not having yes-men around him, the problem with AJ is not his boxing skills. Technically, he is good enough.
The problems are stamina and his mental attitude. He is sparring 15 rounds in Derrick James' gym now I believe, that will help and he also should really see a sports-psychologist or even a hypnotist.
AJ still wants to improve otherwise he wouldn't have gone through the trouble of leaving his comfort-zone for the first time and move all the way to America.

I am not an MMA fan but I watched it for sometime, going back to the K1.
AJ reminds me of Overeem. Overeem was steamrolling everyone until he lost a few times and everyone was saying he had a weak chin.
From then on, his whole fighting style changed to a scared fighter, not throwing with authority anymore and he became even more vulnerable.
He went into the cage fearing his weak points instead of having confidence in his strong points.
This is how AJ fights now.

It is the public criticism that is the problem.

Robert Garcia is not a yes man but certainly a clout chaser, no need to expose your fighter or ex-fighter's mistake(s) to the public especially if he has already made amends, Joshua apologized for his outburst in the rematch against Usyk and is doing his training in America now, what more does Garcia want? Except he is bitter Joshua left him for a better trainer.

Derrick James isn't a Promoter buddy
He's responsible for training Earl Spence when he's scheduled to Fight Terrence Crawford Not making the fight happen

Maybe Garcia lost control of his emotions too?!

HIt's comments were accurate but there's a time and place, maybe behind closed doors out of the public eye and consumption.
