Even the same version that last fought Canelo would give benavidez problems
Benavidez vs GGG

Not sure about that, might be too early to state this. Pretty sure Gennady was holding back against a teenager, If it was the current GGG then sure he would win. But at his prime is a different story and I don't know how it would go with so little to work with in David's part.
What I noticed though is that whenever an opponent manages to land a hard blow to the body of GGG, he always seems to be hurt and goes onto the defensive. If anyone can exploit that, it probably be David Benavidez who has a pretty big reach advantage.

There is a great video by The Modern Martial Artist, after watching it might be the reason why I think that if GGG needed to recover, Benavidez would be able corner him, and stop him:

Yes that is a great video. You think a prime GGG would waste his time sparring soft for years vs a kid? That would make no sense, a champion does not do ****** things like that, he takes his time seriously. David was just that good that young. He is also much bigger than GGG you can check their photos together. They were never in the same division anyway.Last edited by Oracle01; 04-14-2023, 09:58 PM.Comment

To be fair I just don't think GGG only sparred Benavidez, can believe he was quite talented enough to put in the work but making a teenager one of your main sparring partners isn't logical at all, whether he is talented enough or not.Yes that is a great video. Checking his facebook page, quite unbelievable how hard-working David was at a young age. He debuted at light heavyweight while being 15 years old.
Just gotta say 160 and 168 are not that far apart. If it was a young upcoming David that just turned 20 years old and fought Gavril I would had favored GGG. But he is now a much-improved fighter altogether.

Lateef Kayode and Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin. Kelly Plavlik, Gennady Golovkin, and J'eon Love.

There are other pictures shown in his media sites, his hard work shaped him out to be a great fighter.

Those pics are cool I had no idea about J Leon Love, thats pretty cool considering they actually fought later on. David has literally sparred anyone and everyone in the state from what I have heard. Thats why I don't understand the lack of respect he gets, he is a Prodigy.Comment

I think it is because of two reasons:Those pics are cool I had no idea about J Leon Love, thats pretty cool considering they actually fought later on. David has literally sparred anyone and everyone in the state from what I have heard. Thats why I don't understand the lack of respect he gets, he is a Prodigy.
1. He is referred as a weight bully, he tends to be taller than most of the top fighters at 168 and he does tend to capitalize on it by squaring up. However I wouldn't call him a weight bully just because he missed weight once, he tends to have a lankier frame compared to many fighters:

Fighting taller opponents is no issue for David though if you saw him spar with Pacheco and Blancas. At 16 years old, he defeated Kevin "The Vermont Bully" Cobbs who was 6'4 with a record of 10-1.

2. He doesn't look like a smooth and dynamic fighter like Plant or Canelo, but he is an educated technical operator with a wide range of skills.Last edited by Malvado; 04-15-2023, 12:17 AM.Comment

- - GGG took off for a long vacation for good reason.
He's done, he knows he's done, so now he just has to figure how to man up to his retirement notice as one of the most dominant fighters of any generation. The last thing he needs is to get beat up by Bena for more $$$ that he doesn't even need anymore.Comment
