In his second appearance after an absence of the ring for 27 months, Jose Miguel Cotto fight out of Martin Ramirez in a withering 'uppercut' to 2:52 left in the third assault, the star of the billboard battle Boxeo Boricua is held yesterday at the Coliseo Hector Sola Bezares of Caguas.
"I felt pretty good in the ring," Cotto said, while acknowledging that his opponent "was very strong and quite uncomfortable."
Jose Miguel said he was "less tired and in better shape" than last month when fighting for the first time after having entered a temporary retirement two years.
His coach, Freddy Trinidad, said that Cotto "is improving very quickly. We have two fights in a row, and hope for the third fight in their original division, which is 135 pounds.
Trinidad said he was proud of the great sacrifice and dedication he has shown his ward in this new phase of his career. "Joseph wants to be world champion and I think we will succeed," said the coach.
