  • Comments Thread For: Canelo Believes That His Power Is Too Much For Anyone To Withstand, Including Benavidez, Bivol

Canelo Alvarez has spent countless hours working on every nook and cranny of his game. As a result, the time he's dedicated to his craft away from the spotlight has allowed him to shine when he's needed most.

Bivol and his manager have both said they will only fight Canelo at 168 and Canelo knows it. That's why he is insisting on a rematch @ 175. He knows he won't get it.

Canelo has a better chance of a KO of Bivol at 168, but Bivol might beat him again.

His 63% ko percentage indicates he’s a bit delusional about his power. We’ve seen him hit guys for 12 rounds and they went nowhere, we’ve seen some of those same guys stopped in other fights. He overrates his power just like he overrates himself as a boxer.

Canelo landed some solid shots on Bivol. They had zero effect. And Bivol's defense is so good that Canelo couldn't land more than a handful of solid shots. If Canelo wants to be king of the 175 pounders, he would need to defeat not only Bivol but also Beterbiev. Against Beterbiev, Canelo would face a very real possibility of being knocked out for the first time.

Canelo has fallen too much in love with his power. He needs to go back to being a complete fighter who puts combinations together, instead of looking to load up with one shot.

He couldn't pierce bivols high guard for ****, and the arm punch tactics he used with Smith didn't bother bivol one bit either. His conditioning is superior compared to most of canelos previous opponents. Being a solid careerweight 175er helped too.

Dude's not as powerful as he thinks. Needs to get back to basics.

Knock out a few soft brits, and suddenly you're George Foreman. It seemed like every week another Brit was getting their orbital bone broken. I don't think they drink milk over there.
