Michael Carbajal vs Chocolatito Gonzalez (Hypothetical)

Michael Carbajal (born September 17, 1967) is an American five-time world boxing champion of Mexican descent. His nickname was "Little Hands Of Stone," after his favorite boxer,"Hands Of Stone" Roberto Durán. Carbajal had an amateur record of 94-9 and won a silver medal as a light flyweight at 1988 Seoul Olympics in South Korea. There were su****ions of politics influencing the judges in Carbajal's decision loss in the gold medal bout.

With a record of 49-4 (33 KOs), will provide some context of whom he had defeated:

Will Grisby (2-0)- Ratanapol Sor Vorapin and Victor Burgos.
(Context: In his debut fight Carbajal fought a fellow debuting fighter who also became a world champion).

Muangchai Kittikasem (11-0)- Sot Chitalada X2 and Chang Jung-koo (Solely known for defeating a prime Hilario Zapata).

Humberto Gonzalez (36-1)- Melchor Cob Castro X2, Napa Kiatwanchai, Kim Kwang-sun, Michael Carbajal X2, and Juan Domingo Córdoba.
(Context: Carbajal and Gonzalez became the first Junior Flyweights in history to earn a million dollar purse, and it was the first Junior Flyweight
"superfight". The first rematch from the trilogy in favor of Humberto was controversial but not a robbery.)

    Kim Kwang-sun (6-1)- None.
(Context: He was a Golden Olympian with a pretty deep amateur bur short professional career, he was leading the scorecards against Humberto Gonzalez and Michael Carbajal until he got knocked out in both fights, he immediately retired after his loss to Carbajal.)

Melchor Cob Castro (46-4-4)- Solely known for his TKO win over Rolando Pascua who defeated Humberto Gonzalez and Dodie Boy Peñalosa.

Jorge Arce (22-2-1)- Juan Domingo Cordoba, Choi Yo-sam, Melchor Cob Castro X2, Hussein Hussein X2, Medgoen Singsurat (Context: Only feat is knocking out a 21 year old Manny Paquiao in his 28th fight), Rosendo Alvarez, and Wilfredo Vasquez Jr.
(Context: Of the champions noted, five out of six were knocked out)

He had defeats to: Humberto Gonzalez X2, Mauricio Pastrana and Jacob Matlala.

Román Alberto González Luna (born 17 June 1987), best known by his nickname "Chocolatito", is a Nicaraguan professional boxer. He is the first boxer from Nicaragua to win world titles in four weight classes, having surpassed his mentor, idol, and former three-weight world champion, the late Alexis Argüello. He has held the WBA minimumweight title from 2008 to 2010; the WBA light flyweight title from 2011 to 2013; the WBC, and The Ring flyweight titles from 2014 to 2016, WBC super flyweight title from 2016 to 2017; and the WBA (Super) super flyweight title from 2020 to 2021. As of August 2022, he is ranked as the world's second best active super flyweight by The Ring magazine. From September 2015 to March 2017, he was also ranked by The Ring and ESPN as the world's best active boxer, pound for pound. He is known particularly for his aggressive pressure fighting style and combination punching. González was reportedly undefeated as an amateur, amassing an 88–0 record in official amateur bouts. The highlight of his amateur career was winning the light flyweight gold medal at the 2004 Central American Championships.

With a record of 51-4 (41KOs) he had defeated:

Ramon Garcia Hirales (18-2)- Johnriel Casimero, and Manuel Vargas.

Juan Francisco Estrada (26-1)- Brian Viloria, Milan Melindo, Giovani Segura, Carlos Cuadras X2, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, and Roman Gonzalez X2.

Mcwilliams Arroyo (16-2)- Carlos Cuadras and Draw with Julio Cesar Martinez.

Carlos Cuadras (35-0-1)- Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Koki Eto.

Moises Fuentes (25-6)- (Context: would had been a good win, but Fuentes was heavily in the decline by the time they fought), Ivan Calderon, Francisco Rodriguez Jr and Romel Asenjo. He also had a draw with Donnie Nietes.

Kal Yafai (26-0)- Cristofer Rosales and Israel Gonzalez.

Israel Gonzalez (25-3)- None (Context: he has given difficult bouts against everyone he lost to after his only KO loss to Jerwin Ancajas. He had a very controversial decision loss to Kal Yafai.)

Julio Cesar Martinez (18-1-2)- Andrew Selby, Charlie Edwards (ruled a NC after testing positive), Cristofer Rosales, Jay Harris, and Samuel Carmona.

(Context: Carmona was winning the scorecards until his hand injury played a role on his loss.)

Rebumping this thread just in case. Thought this might be interesting considering they share way too many similarities.

-Both have a pretty deep amateur history despite that is shorter compared to most prospects at the current time.
-Both have nearly over 50 wins with 4 losses. Only getting knocked out once.
-Both have trilogies over a Mexican HOF fighters starting at light flyweight. (Humberto Gonzalez/Juan Francisco Estrada)
-Both were quite well promoted despite coming from the lower weight class, one in the USA and the other in Japan.
-Both heavily declined at their early thirties, yet still managed to pull off good wins. (Roman was more consistent)

I'm going with Carbajal here. I think he draws Chocolatito into a firefight and gets the better of him but man, that's 50-50. What a fight!

Not sure who win as this is a 50/50 fight, I lean towards Carbajal's pinpoint precision/timing disrupting Roman's workrate and managing to get a SD win. Just think he has more to work with compared to SSR due to his overall longer reach and superior firepower.

Reason why I think Michael has more power is just that he had stopped more world champions with two being in similar caliber to Rungvisai while Wangek mostly went the distance with Cuadras, Gonzalez and Estrada.

He knocked out a very dangerous Gonzalez in the rematch, but the first match took a hefty toll in Roman.
