It's easy to be an "arm-chair quarterback" and critique official and unofficial judges. They have a pretty rough job, in my opinion. A fight can look different from different positions, they can be influenced by the crowd, etc. Although there have been many major injustices, I really don't like to throw these people under the bus unless it's something MAJOR. Ala Holyfield-Lewis 1.
Harold Lederman should be sacked.

I agree. Im sick of Larry. I understand he's an icon on HBO boxing commentators but seriously... it almost seems as though he's lost when he's trying to make a 'profound' point. He ends up looking ****** and senile. Can we please permanently replace him with Max.Comment

Granted, it is indeed easy to assume the stance of an armchair judge, but it's what we all do in the end as fans of the sport - we're not employed to be judges, but we probably do a better job sitting in the comfort of our own homes with the luxury of multiple camera angles, as opposed to squinting from a fixed position like some of these old farts are paid to.It's easy to be an "arm-chair quarterback" and critique official and unofficial judges. I say have 5 judges scoring, with 3 locked up in isolation booths away from the ring and given the same broadcast we get to see, whilst another 2 get to move around the ring as necessary and score it close up. Oh, and have age limits for crying out loud. Anyone over 60 shouldn't be a judge - you're an old fart by that age. Also, any controversial or ridiculous scores (in comparison to the rest of the panel) should warrant a warning - three strikes and you're out of the sport.Comment

The one that needs to go is Jim Lampley, he's the one that when he start to talk about past and current fights, know nothing about boxing and comes up with general phrases that even a MMA fan can come up with, plus his disagreement with George Foreman most likely lead to HBO sacking Foreman, due to some ****** rascist comments and other slurs by Lampley, simply a ******, ignorant guy and if it wasn't for his friends at HBO, would work with refilling the shelfs at Walmart on the Nightshift

Thanks for agreeing. I do believe judges who are totally off base, need to be drug into the somebody's office to explain why they chose to score it the way they did. One more comment about Merchant, though. Like I said before he keeps talking about drama, theatrics, etc. I have said I think he needs to take up soap opera instead of boxing! lolGranted, it is indeed easy to assume the stance of an armchair judge, but it's what we all do in the end as fans of the sport - we're not employed to be judges, but we probably do a better job sitting in the comfort of our own homes with the luxury of multiple camera angles, as opposed to squinting from a fixed position like some of these old farts are paid to.

I think Lampley is good for the most part. He became a journalist at a very young age, and was put out there largely because of his youth-like appearances. He had many gigs before HBO hired him and is well-versed with virtually all sports. Foreman, imo, was let loose probably because he showed too much favoritism with some fighters.

And you make the most annoying whiney little threads, no one takes you seriously, and I just want you to stfu whenever you post.He has the most annoying, whiney little voices I've ever heard. Can't take that guy seriously, just want him to stfu whenever he speaks.
This is just like those digital road map things which give you automated audio directions, like Tom Tom etc. They have voices which they judge on I don't know what but they're atleast bearable ya know.Comment
