  • Comments Thread For: Regis Prograis Announces that He Is a Free Agent, Expects to Get 'Big Name Fights'

Regis Prograis is taking his career into his own hands. The WBC 140-pound titlist from New Orleans announced on his social media Thursday that he is now a free agent. It is not clear if Prograis, 34, cut ties with just his promoter, or his management, or both. Prograis was last linked with Probellum, the defunct upstart once led by the oft-roving veteran Richard Schaefer.

“I feel like, now, I’mma really get all the big fights, the fights that people wanna see. The big name fights. The big name. The big money. All the belts. That’s my goal, to clear the division. **** about to get popping for real. A lot **** ’bout to jump off. A lot of **** ’bout to get poppin’ for real. Free agent, baby.”

I sure hope so. I will always tune in for Regis. He's in my top 5 favorite fighters. He should be with Top Rank, IMO. Let's hope that it all works out for him.

Can we finally stop talking about "boxing politics" and call it what it is? Corruption!

Probellum did nothing for Regis. Wonder if he'll actually sign to a promoter. He's exciting but doesn't have the name value or star power. At least he got a belt

Subriel Matias. It's a money fight. We need a FOTY candidate.

Regis destroys Matias. Actually, I heard that he's taken a look at him just recently because people kept texting him about Matias. He said he'd do it so long as the money is right. At this point, he's going to try to use that belt to leverage as much money as possible. Because of that, I think Top Rank/ESPN fighters will have to be the route he goes down. Maybe Teofimo Lopez or a rematch with Josh Taylor.

He should sign with Top rank since they hold all the cards at 140.

Now Ramirez really don't have an excuse why not to fight him. One less excuse of TR not dealing with Probellum.

He's just like Andrade, bouncing around and wasting his prime. Very sad.

Taylor will never fight him or Catterall again.
