No athlete is as "fresh as lettuce" at that age, especially a boxer who has consistently fought for 25+ years. Take into account all the running, jump roping, strength and conditioning, sparring, bag work, mitts and actual fights over that time. It's a **** ton of toll against the body. And once he started fighting twice a year, you could definitely see some changes. I could tell in 2016 that he was starting to lose snap to his punches and generally just seemed slower. He actually looked like **** in the lead up to the first Canelo fight with gaining too much weight. Yes, Mayweather did what he did at that age, but it's Mayweather. You're taking an outlier example. The overwhelming majority of athletes and specifically boxers, aren't better past 35 and certainly aren't fresh.

Well, I spent years here explaining guys that Bivol would beat Canelo, but the most of so called boxing fans laughed.
It was easy to predict that unbeaten light heavy champion would be to much for Canelo.
But Canelo casuals ( the big majority guys here) expected Canelo to walk through him lol..
Actually, I have followed Bivol`s career since he picked belt.Last edited by JakeTheBoxer; 04-09-2023, 03:49 PM.Comment
