Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Believes That Jamaine Ortiz Is More Than Capable Of Giving Anyone A Tough Fight

Normally level-headed, Vasiliy Lomachenko was seething and foaming at the mouth following a close but clear defeat at the hands of Teofimo Lopez in 2020. After being ushered into the medical tent to repair a bothersome shoulder injury, the former two-time Olympic gold medalist reeled off two consecutive victories.

Of course Ortiz is going to give hell to anyone. He's going to be a champion at some point, provided he gets some fights!Give this man a fight!

I disagree. Ortiz is massively overrated IMO.

He’s not going to be champion if he fights Shakur Stevenson, Keyshawn Davis, Frank Martin, or Tank for a vacant title. He struggled against Joseph Adorno and was dropped twice & didn’t look great against Nahir Albright either. He’s a very big dude.. will be at 140 soon and that División is just to competitive.

Agreed. Ryan stopping Luke Campbell was probably more impressive I’ve seen anything Ortiz do. Great performance against Loma. But everyone outside of Commey, Nakhatani & Crolla have gave Loma trouble at 135…

This article is completely misleading the writer is himself contentious.

Lomachenko's victory over Ortiz was in NO way contentious. Ortiz is a very good fighter bigger and likely much heavier than Lomachenko on fight night. The fight itself, after a year's inactivity, was a dangerous one to take.
It was pretty even for the first 6 rounds or so, and thenLomachenko as USUAL piled on the pressure and won at least 4-5 of the last 6 rounds.

The Judges scored is 117-111, 119-112 115-113. We get scores that vary a lot like this one, all the time. Bad left Hook scored it 117-111, which was the most likely result, with a round either way.
What Lomachenko says is correct, he gives credit where it's due..always. He says that Ortiz is a very good fighter and he is. He said that Rigondeaux was too small and didn't regard it as a true fight. And there are other examples of his sportsmanship, that I won't bother checking on. Sll his victories were clear cut, not one that could have gone the other way.

His caree has been magnificent and bot likely ever to be equalled. Fifhting 2 weight classes above his normal. Mostly against champions and mostly unbeaten.

He was going life and death with Adorno only a year or so before he fought Loma.

Loma has clearly declined and it made Ortiz look a lot better than he actually is.

I’d put him in with Keyshawn tomorrow tbh. I think he’s more than ready for Ortiz.

You were more impressed with Ryan stopping a 0 time world champion, who is best known for losing and was a COVID patient? Don’t think I could agree on that one.

That first knockdown was bull****. Adorno hit him in the back of the head and pushed him down. It was a slip. The second one, however, was a knockdown. But aside from that knockdown, Ortiz kicked Adorno's ass from pillar to post.

And if what you're saying is true, then why is Shakur fighting this Japanese guy who's nothing but a brawler instead of fighting Ortiz, who's been calling out Shakur for a fight since Shakur said he's moving up to 135? Why is that?
