Question I have about Marcos Geraldo.

Marcos Geraldo (66-28-1) was a contender at middleweight and light heavyweight during the 1970-1980's.

Just noticed that despite that his numerous losses which mostly come by the way of knockout, he had inconsistent performances where he had gone the distance and had competitive fights with world champions.

He also had also had 50 knockouts out of his 66 wins. He had fought Armando Muniz (32-6-1), George Cooper (49-4-3), Sugar Ray Leonard (21-0), John LoCicero (15-3), Marvin Hagler (48-2-2), Caveman Lee (13-2), Thomas Hearns (33-1), Fred Hutchings (20-1), Prince Mama Muhammad (29-1-1), Michael Nunn (7-0), Chris Reid (14-0-1) and Virgil Hill (16-0). He either was knocked out early in the fight or went the distance.

Hearns knocking out Geraldo in the first round:

He went the distance with both Leonard and Hagler which they won those fights convincingly by either outboxing him or outworking him, however the former had some to note after his bout with him.

Is there a reason why he fared better with certain ATGs over noncontenders with double digit losing streaks? It is understandable that he loses to great fighters but I just don't understand how he lose quite easily prior to those fights considering he demonstrated a pretty good chin.

Maybe was it due to the a lack of discipline?
