    [QUOTE=Cypocryphy;n31798746]

    [SIZE=16px][FONT=Georgia]I definitely disagree with that. There was a reason why we used to have same-day weigh-ins. It's due to increased weight creating (1) greater punch power and (2) greater punch resistance. It's just the way physics work, and surprisingly, a little increase in weight goes a long way.

    Andy Bowen, Daniel Marshall, tosh Powell, Frankie Campbell, Ernie Schaff, jack Holland, tiny scrapie, tony Marino, Peter asero, jimmy doyle to name a few. & the Korean fighter that fought Mancini. They are why same-day weigh ins stopped. People died.

    It was very dangerous because boxers would try to cut a lot of weight, and without proper rehydration, you're at a greater risk for brain damage.

    A fully rehydrated boxer is like having an egg in a glass of water. Shake the glass, the egg won't break. A dehydrated boxer's brain is an egg in an empty glass.

    When you drain your body of all fluids, the fluids (mostly water) around your brain, that protects it, is dehydrated as well.

      There's no such thing as a "weight bully."

      You can make the weight or you cant.

        If you make weight, you made weight. Period. Weight bully is the term fans if losers use because their favorite lost.

          How is Haney a weight bully when for the past 3 years 90% of contenders in the division has been virtually the same size in weight if not bigger (Richard Commey, Ryan Garcia, Luke Campbell, Jorge Linares, Tank, Teofimo Lopez, Frank Martin, Nakhatani, Pedraza, William Zepeda, Yoshino, Rolly Romero, Jamaine Ortiz, Keyshawn Davis?

          By this logic Sweet Pea & Roberto Duran were weight bullies too?
          Pea and Duran did same-day weigh ins. Lets see Haney fight after a same day weigh in and THEN you can compare to those guys......

            but I also haven't seen anyone call devin a bully. I think he gets a pass because he doesn’t have power. If he was hurting people though, the 24lbs hydration would be talked about more.

            I’m just curious how he does it without an IV

              I’m more apt to use the term on someone who demands weight clauses (Canelo) than someone who does what they’re supposed to (Devin)

                Exactly. Weight bully and criticism of boxers that train and diet such that they stay in a weight class a long time are the 2 most annoying complaints on this site.

                    True. Less rehydration time back then. If people make weight then they make weight as far as I'm concerned.

                      Low IQ comment. You are unaware that they were still doing same day weigh ins when Robert Duran was at lightweight. The guys today are far larger than Duran was at 135.
